Great review! I just purchased this headlamp over the weekend. It now offers a locking feature by holding the main button down for 4 seconds. Just like you recommended!

Very nice option... rechargeable wins everytime!! Especially when we all carry pocket chargers anyway!! Nice work as Always 🙂

I bought this lamp. I watched this video to understand how the red light works because I couldn't understand it by myself. x) Thanks !

The petzl noctilight is a lantern and travel case on one that solves the button problem.

lol that high beam flashing feature drove me nuts could not find anything in the documentation to explain why this was happening until I finally put in fresh aaa batteries and it stopped so figured it was a low battery warning of the core now you confirmed it. Good light, way better than the Black Diamond Spot I own which eats batteries like crazy, has a confusing button sequence and has an annoying yellow spot artifact projected in the middle of the beam. This Petzl lasts longer with the core rechargeable, has a clean white beam and is easier to use, way brighter. Love the hybrid battery arrangement too. Good review

I like that you show both units of measurement.

Thanks for reviewing this product.

A good tip to avoid accidentally switch on when it is on your backpack (because the button does not lock) is to put one of the batteries in opposite site until you are ready to use it. I don't know if this is possible with the rechargeable battery, if not you can take it of.
Also in the new model with 450 Lumens you can with a four-second hold of the top button, lock itself until you do the same to unlock it.

Do you know if last longer with 3 AAA batteries or is the same?

Thanks for the review! I was excited till I saw the proprietary battery. Then you showed that it’ll take 3 AAA! I like that I have options. Just might have to go pick this up to replace my 15 year old Tikka.

The core rechargeable battery gives you bright fresh light all the time, AAA batteries start going Dim after about a hour depending on what type they are. This light is going to save you so much money on stupid AAA batteries which can really add up if you doing lot of camping!! i like having a spare core battery so i can keep 1 charging out of my power bank. This is best Petzl i have yet!

Great review... and I agree with the lock feature option. That was a great feature on my BD Spot. I switched over to the Actik Core because I wanted a rechargeable headlamp that also accepted AAA batteries. It’s a nice feature just in case something happens to the battery and/or my power supply to recharge it. It’s a great headlamp and it hasn’t let me down yet! Thanks again for the review!

Perfect! All of the features I want in a head lamp. I have a Fenix with similar features but not rechargeable. A while ago I was looking to upgrade, and the few that I looked at had usb recharge but not the red LED so I didn't buy anything. Just ordered the Petzl from the referral link above. Thanks!

Very good review! A rechargable headlamp is something that I would like to try next. I'm shooting for around March 17th or the week after for RRG.

Nice review. The coffee table was a little distracting, but it was a cool coffee table.

Get the battery out when you put the lamp in the backpack. Is that simple.

La lampe peut s'allumer dans votre sac et vous n'avez plus de batterie pour votre bivouac. Les réglages de serre tête sont en plastique de mauvaise qualité: ils cassent. Je déconseille cette lampe.

when the battry is in red and needs to be charged how long does it take to charge, go from red to can you buy an extra battry for the lamp, and can you maybe turn the lights off and show what it looks like in the actual dark for the different settings....

I just purchased one of these lights and it does say that it now has a lock feature. Just FYI.
