Complete FlexFuel e85 Fuel System Install

From pump to rail and back again, every installation factor addressed. To complete your own FlexFuel system, you will need an ECU capable of reading an Ethanol Content Sensor. The latest release of ECMlink Version 3 includes support for an Ethanol Content Sensor, and dual fuel and timing table support.

It's easy to do this, and if this fuel is available in your area, why would you not be? It's typically cheaper, and it makes up to 15% more horsepower than E10 or E15 gasoline. It's a better HP ÷ $$$ ratio than you'll find with most every modification. It generates less carbon emissions, too.

Altogether as shown between new and used parts I spent roughly $470 on materials. For instance, this should be enough fuel pump for the amount of air this turbo should move, and it was free. I needed to buy twice as much fuel line as most would, but recouped that difference with a used fuel pump and sensor. Expect to spend roughly the same or slightly more if everything is brand new, but to me, that's still performance money well spent.

There's a Dyno in-house, so you will SEE the results from having done this. I stopped this video where the installation is complete, and all of the components in the fuel system have now been tested and proven to work. There has been a long path that brought us to this upgrade. In the next video we will size adequate injectors and address all the factors beyond the fuel system and rail. We will compare the power difference between gasoline and e85 on the dyno. See if the spark knock I have been detecting is real or not? ...because it doesn't show up at all on the spark plugs. We believe it isn't real. If it's still knocking after the fuel change, then we are correct about this. My Elantra is going to like e85 whether the knock sensor shuts up or not.

If you wish to know more about how ECMlink interfaces with ethanol, you can learn more about it here:

I installed ECMlink in a previous video located here:

I made my own custom Elantra/4G63T engine harness for Speed Density operation here:

The Ethanol Content Sensor I'm using is an Innovate 39070

The pump I installed is a used 450lph that came out of a drawer in Matt's toolbox and we'll see how far that one gets me?

The Ethanol sensor was stolen out of the trunk of Abe's Toyota Excelsior.

You can find Evil Energy PTFE fuel hose kits on Amazon, you can find all of these parts at your favorite speed shops, in stock at Summit, JEGS. Most all of these items including the specialty wiring accessories I used in this video are available at RaceTronix. All of the bulkhead parts, Sensor hose adapters, sending unit parts, ethanol pigtail harness and -6 AN unions came from Racetronix.

If you're fortunate enough to be doing this on a 4g63 platform car with ECMlink already, absolutely everything you need to know about installing FlexFuel capability and doing it successfully is right here in this video. Especially if it's a 1g DSM. The instructions at ECMlink (the links above), you should hang on every word of that including the singular grammatical error it contains. It's harmless. Their documentation is incredible.

This car is a fantastic candidate for this upgrade because of its past and all the equipment it already has. I've been foreshadowing that I wanted to do this since the wiring harness video. I think everyone will benefit from seeing the power difference between these two fuels and comparing them to see if it's worth it once you reach the full potential of your turbo? What's the percentage gain I will see? Place your bets!

This honestly took me about 16 hours to do, could have been achieved in less than half of that, and it only took this long because it's me. Thank you for watching and reading every word. May all your horsepower goals be achieved in 2023.

A great book to get all the facts about Ethanol fuels is the ethanol papers it will show you how we have been scammed for over a century with petrol, well worth the read

What I think is funny is how *NOBODY* has commented that I said EPMD, not EPDM. Long live Eric Parrish the Microphone Doctor!

Either engineers can't even spell, or everyone else listens to EPMD and does the same thing I do with that one.

Well done Jafro. Always been a big fan of your videos, always impressed with the amount of work you put into each video. Guess that's why you're the only channel I'm willing to be a Patreon for. Merry Christmas amigo!

I'm so glad you referenced "the front fell off" clip.

I learned so much from this one video, like the diameters of the fuel line = HP after you do an E85 conversion. Wowza, 600/800/1000 HP. Also fav pullquote: 45:55 "I don't know, man. I just work here. This is my example"

i really enjoy the raw, hardly filtered information that spills out of all of your videos

Oh wow, what a Christmas! A Jafro video with a cameo from Clarke and Dawe (0:21), Australia's (thank you New Zealand for the incredible John Clarke RIP) greatest gift to the comedy world!

The moment you said I'm gonna miss you buddy hit me a little deep. I started following you when you installed it a million years ago. Probably one of the oldest modifications on your car too. Rip fuel line ❤️😭🤣

A recycled spark plug wire 90 boot works here, heat shrink over end.
Think of the BATT terminal of an alternator🤔
