I do think there should be a National Trust that provides at least SOME of the funding for the preservation, that helps out the people that take on these enormous and insane projects, seeing as the rules are so strict and the buildings are being preserved for future generations of Britons. Or at least organized groups of volunteers to go around to all the historic houses being preserved and help with the labour ... as part of an accreditation system/ apprenticeship program. That would be a win-win situation! (Create jobs, promote ancient skills and help everybody out).

This poor man has been working so hard mostly by himself and you keep saying how slow or not done yet, he has done a grand job! So happy to hear your praise!

I love Professor Mark. He's clearly very passionate about the history of these homes. Lucky is the man that loves his work

I love that they kept so much of the history of the home and didn’t over-modernize it. It’s breathtaking!!

A video without all the family drama or anxiety over money. Such a joy to watch. Moving in quietly and living and creating as they go.

In 2015 my motorcycle and I flew (Air Canada) to Paris and spent 70 days exploring western Europe. I included Great Britain and Ireland and made sure that I visited as many manors and castles as would fit into my schedule. I am still amazed at the number of historic building still standing and even more amazed at the documentation that still exists - treaties, wills, laws, agreements of all kinds - from centuries ago. I now appreciate the saying "While Canada has too much geography, Britain has too much history." Hang on to your history. It is so valuable in many ways.
By the way George - Nice touch with the books you present to the owners.

I've been spending much time with these restoration shows. I absolutely loved this particular episode. The castle is 100% lucky to have new owners such as this family. History has been saved here.

Impressed right away with the building because it was so square and plumb. Simon's humor is great.

This is an awesome episode. I love that they checked the rest of the grounds to look into older structures in the ground. Quite remarkable.

Wow, this is such a task to take on especially being grade 1 listed and such a phenomenal outcome and on a limited budget, fabulous job all round and what a fabulously historic home! Well done to all.

Living the dream. Well done Simon and Victoria. When Simon told Mark of his plan to hold a Mediaeval feast and invited Mark along, who would've guessed it would be so soon? Very entertaining and satisfying.

This is possibly one of my favourite restorations I’ve watched recently. What a change, I’d never have thought he’d have plodded on and got it done. Congratulations to the family! 😊

Gosh this is gorgeous. I’ve always said that if I ever make it big and have a ton of money, instead of a modern minimalist mansion, I’d invest in a beautiful old home such as this. History and beautiful architecture, I love it so much. As a history nerd the people who restore these amazing places are amazing.
