I'm 50 now (still a gamer)...I'm afraid I won't be here to see the full release.
Anyway...I hope my grandchildren continue supporting this project.
It's gonna be great ! (when finished).

The 3 shields on a semi starter is awesome and will help keep your cargo or vehicle safe, while allowing unseasoned pilots stay in the fight longer. The Nomad is a very attractive package.

Dead on, Came to same conclusion and tested with distortion repeater on nose and two nuetrons. Did very well for the offered price

So, this thing is gonna have a tractor beam on a S1 utility mount that pulls cargo directly into your hold, right?

That means we're also looking at baby's first pirate ship, probably ideal for preying on Hull A's, B's, and Aurora CL's. Nice.

Thanks for taking the time to showcase this.

Just think about this thing has 75% the weaponry of the Banu Defender.
3 size 3's instead of 4. That's pretty insane for an 80 dollar starter ship.
Granted it has size 1 shields, sure, but three of em. Three FR-66's is 900hp/s regen rate.
Not even the Defender can reach that with twin FR-76's.

Sometimes you wonder how the F CIG comes up with their ship balancing.
A starter semi-hauler Ford Pickup Truck, that has better shield regen and almost the same weaponry (equal, if you count that it has more missiles), than a 200 dollar alien Combat ship specifically designed to defend and escort traders...

I mean why even bother, just bring a cheap-ass Nomad to defend your Merchantman instead.

I upgraded to the nomad from a titan and i regret nothing. I do plan on upgrading the components to better fit my needs but other than that, it’s a damn good pick.

Quick and to the point, much appreciated

@STLYoungblood One thing to keep in mind. if doing combat, using industrial coolers + Military or industrial shields will cause the ship to overheat and shut down. only use miliary coolers because the cooling throughput is higher. imagine you have a tank of coolant and a straw. the military coolers have a bigger straw to pull coolant to components

Glad to hear it is true to its all-rounder name.

I replaced the Gutless Cutlass with the Nomad. Because well it is more like the original Cutlass and is more compact. Which makes it a bit harder to hit. Now it does have some engine heating issues but I fly decoupled with g-safe off. So I don't experience the "drift" that you mention. I can easily blow through claim jumpers and most pve missions. But it is not a fighter. It is more or less the perfect raider.

Huh, this is a great CCU option for anyone slowly stepping up in the ship tree and may enjoy the Cutlass experience!

Didn’t fixed have a tiny circle for aiming with a slight gimbal just a little while ago?

This damn aircraft has the same firepower as an anvil arrow, with two more shields lol. This thing is capable. But it's a cargo multipurpose craft. I feel like this thing is gonna be op for awhile, honestly it's why I got one lol

Why don't you use FR-66's for your shield generators? They have a zero second damage delay meaning they are *always* charging unless a pane goes down, and they have a really fast recharge rate as well

a roc and and cyclone fit in the back, recommend reversing

I still don't understand why so many people are flying slow/sluggish ships fixed. If this thing was as agile as a Hawk or Bucc, sure maybe, but it's not. Fixed guns are only better than gimbals if you can maintain at least 70% accuracy vs. a gimbaled equivelent, and I'm sorry but you were NOT putting 60% of those bullets on target. That's okay, I couldn't either and neither could 99% of the player base, but it does mean that you gained absolutely nothing from running GT-220's instead of GT-215's here.

Running the Nomad with GT-215's you get twice the ammo and across over twenty CS2 and CS3 bounties on Friday, I was able to maintain well over 90% accuracy (i.e. shots actually connecting with the target.) I understand it's "cooler" to run fixed, but neither the math nor actual gameplay supports it. It's simply the inferior option, provided your primary goal is to actually kill the target (as opposed to looking cool while you do it slower.)

Still, to each their own, fly what you want, all that jazz. It's just strange to see so many people do this when it's objectively worse.

On the main point, I think the Nomad is my second favorite ship of 2950, behind only the MSR. I know on paper the Cutty Blue is a superior fighter, but the regen rate on the Nomad, lack of detachable wings (yes, the top mount might be easy to remove in the future, but the Cutty's wings are easy to remove right now) and better agility just make the Nomad more fun to dogfight in.

Oh and look up inside the living space. That's where your coolers and shields are. They really did make maximum use of the interior space in this ship, and they did it without making it feel cramped. I love that.

I goofed my upgrade to the Nomad. I had wrongfully assumed the non-warbond upgrade came with 10-year insurance like the special upgrades did last year but I was mistaken.

So unfortunately I went from 10 year to 4 month insurance...
