Thank you for doing this! I looked it up specifically to see the VDI on my Nox!

Nice detector comparison on the ever elusive gold coin. Keep Digging!

The simplex did a pretty good job on that test because that's a tough test.

A fair test would be stock nox 800 coil

Can you imagine how hard it is to find deep gold Celtic Staters, let alone quarter gold Staters; the circumferance of a tiny garden pea?

It might have been a good idea to test the piece of tile with the Deus before putting it over the gold coin. Just in case the firing process and glazing minerals weren’t interfering with the signal.

I read a cool thing the other day regarding soil matrix. Apparently in undisturbed ground that hasn’t been disturbed for years, there is a linear alignment of ground particles where the positive and negative charges are in alignment forming the soil matrix. Once this ground has been disturbed, it does not contain the same positive and negative conductivity anymore which takes years and years for the particles to realign. Which I suppose is why you see a lot of test videos on YouTube carried out in holes with the target placed into the undisturbed wall of the test pit.

Also, the alignment of the positive and negative particles in the soil matrix, might explain why the same detector that found the target the day before doesn’t perform quite as good the next day. Perhaps it has something top do with the earths magnetic field, especially when the sun is affecting the ionosphere and reacting with the magnetic field.

Anyway, I’ve decided to make a huge trench come pathway in my garden, where I can insert the targets into the trench wall so that the soil matrix is completely undisturbed. I can then use a rod or something to make holes in the dugout pathway bottom which will also contain undisturbed soil matrix, to allow me to have even more targets in my test garden. Either way I’ll end up with a pretty cool path, as I intend to make the pathway curved so that it forms an interesting feature in the garden. I could even scatter some Roman chamomile seeds all over the pathway, which would create a moss covering effect. Thus, enhancing the feature even further! Happy Hunting

I would dig that signal with my Simplex

I would have dug that all day long with my simplex, I’ve learned that in iron infested ground if I’m getting a jumpy vdi higher than iron i will dig it, the simplex is telling you there’s something hiding in with the iron, gotta learn the simplex to know this!

How about the same video in a park or something where we can get a good signal and vdi and no iron around
