I dont know if anyone noticed this. But the figures around the girl in the image. They depict the heros journey trope. And the song is cut in segments just like it. This is incredible.

a detail i really like about the way the vocals are sung is that the more cheerful sounding parts are sung in cassie's more bright and "childlike" voice, meanwhile the darker and slower parts are sung in a more mature tone. in other words, its sinner don and sancho being reflected in the vocals!

I love how it goes from pretty much a kid’s show theme song to one of the most depressing songs of all time

The change going from the first part of the song to the second feels like a child who idolizes their parent when they’re younger and then as they grow up they realize their parent is actually a horrible person. The third part is the child desperately trying to hold onto those nice memories they had as a kid of their parent, and the final part is the child realizing that they’re a different person from their parent, and they can solely rely on themselves instead of that idolized view of their parent.
