It's like they already have agenda to evangelize externally rather than internally first. Continuing your parable ; Going outside without knowing the condition of our engine is too risky for the journey.

You nailed it! A few years ago, I was reading in the newspaper an old Charlie Brown, and Snoopy cartoon. Well, Charlie Brown and Snoopy were pretending that they were in a battlefield fighting a war. All of a sudden, Charlie Brown looked right at Snoopy and said, “Snoopy, we found the enemy, and guess what, IT IS US! “
I feel the same way, I think sometimes we all love to toot our own horns so that all can see how holy we think we are.
