3 dead, 14 injured in Illinois crash involving Greyhound bus and commercial vehicles

A Greyhound passenger bus crashed into three tractor-trailers parked along a highway rest area exit early Wednesday in southern Illinois, killing three people and injuring 14 others, some seriously, state police said.

It shouldn't be illegal to part on a ramp. Reduce your speed it's safer than a sleepy semi driver. Prayers for all involved heartbreaking

If the bus driver was awake and paying attention nothing bad would have happened. Don't blame parked truckers, I'm sure they were on the SHOULDER of the ramp, you see it all the time.

Yea when u run out of hours they make u stop wherever you are and u get in trouble if u keep driving and find an actual stop to stop at sometimes I know not all companies are like this but some are 😢

Its the fault of the DOT! They would lie to you, and say they are making things safer! When actually they have no ideas what they are doing with the trucking industry!

Looks like the bus driver misjudged the didtance between himself and the parked trucks.
Why do we now, all of a sudden, always blame the stationary vehicle(s), and not the driver that is responsible for the moving vehicle ????
I mean, that's like driving in the woods and blaming the tree you hit !!!

I would understand that if they were parked in the driving lane. But they weren't, they were parked on the shoulder, they were not in the driving lane, so it is 100% the bus driver's fault for leaving his lane and driving on the shoulder, which is illegal.

I am not saying byes can’t use/stop at rest area, however I am going to point out, that maybe this bus driver new he was micro sleeping was going to take a break or call the bus company to acknowledge he will be late. Know Professional Driver of a CMV wants to have a serious lethal accident…!!!
