Thats sorrel. We use it to make juice and jam in Jamaica. Very popular during christmas time (winter)

My mother was making jam and chutney with sorrel 60 years ago in Jamaica.
The drink, with a little pimento, ginger, sweetened to taste, with rum, is unbelievably good.

In the Caribbean, it's called sorrel. We boil it with cinnamon, bayleaf, clove, Nutmeg, and water for a couple of minutes. Leave it overnight to draw all the flavour, then strain and sweeten with white sugar. Put in the fridge and drink all that wonderful rich flavour.

Thak you for showing the flowers I had drank this drink at my grandma's in Mexico, but I never new what they looked like before, the petals were dihidrated they are beautiful. We used to drink this like a lemonade with our meals or on a hot day with ice. It sure brings good memories from when I was little.
