Jennifer Lopez announced that she will be releasing a new album in 2023, but me and a million other people are wondering, who will be singing in the album? When she says this is me does it mean she will actually finally be singing the songs? Or will Ashanti be doing the work for her… again?! In fact, decades later fans still say that J. Lo stole Ashanti's vocals and almost ruined Ashanti's career.

The fact that she is ambiguous helped with her cross over appeal. Her label knew how to market her and she blew up. As a Latina I never felt like she represented Latinos like that back in the day. That only happened when she was trying to make a comeback while married to Marc Anthony (a true artist, his voice omg). Marc coached her to use her own voice to sing. Furthermore, in Latin America we have more respect to true Latino artists that represent the culture. Such as Jose Feliciano, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin (Menudo as well), Shakira, etc. Jlo is a marketing product...I love Ashanti, when she dissapeared I wondered what happened
