Supreme Court considers adding citizenship question to census

The Supreme Court is listening to arguments for and against adding a question of citizenship in time for the 2020 census. Critics argue it will prevent people from participating, while supporters of the change think it is the most efficient way to track citizenship. Tom Wolf, counsel of the Democracy Program, joined CBSN to discuss ramifications of the possible change.

Many people keep asking the question 'why can't you just lie on the census?' Heres why thats not the point. Illegals can lie on the census but by doing so they have committed a felony and they could be deported for that if we enforced it. Also many illegals will be scared to lie on it in the first place. I personally support this because we know who's seats will be effected by this.

CBS ruined what was pretty objective reporting with some really one-sided analysis from that fearmongering Wolf guy. If we ask people whether or not they're citizens, "it'll be a disaster, " he says. CBS provided nobody to argue the other side. The initial report makes clear that the government isn't even asking people if they're here illegally or not, only whether they're citizens. Everybody should be able to answer that totally innocuous question.
