Point Roberts, Washington is on the brink of becoming a ghost town, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. The U.S.-Canada border remains shuttered because of the virus, with no signs of reopening, which has crippled this small town's economy, and left residents wondering if they will ever get help to survive.

Each weekday morning, "CBS This Morning" co-hosts Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs.

That's not crippling effects from the pandemic
That's crippling effects from bad government management

Man, it just occurred to me that the Canadian borders been closed for a year and it has not even remotely affected my life in New England.

They can't make a border exception for Point Roberts? This is so sad. They wouldn't even let this woman go to the dentist?
Makes me look at Canada completely different now.

Not gonna lie, if I lived there I definitely would sneak across the border frequently.

Governments are the ultimate monopolies, that guarantees they don't respond effectively or efficiently to their "customers" needs.

How could they block this town from essentials. This is moronic.

My county has had 11 positive covid tests - not a single one of the people have gotten sick; none needed a doctor or hospital - good thing, as the nearest doctors and hospitals are 80 miles or more, away - and none have died from covid. We have no grocery store, no gas station, no fast food - no food of any kind, fast or otherwise - no shopping unless you count the one gun store. We must all travel, at least 50 + miles, to the nearest grocery store, dollar store, or cafe. In all this time, over 1 year, we have not had a single actual case of covid or a death from covid.

If a place is shut down by the town then no one should have to pay rent during that time period. If it's a forced shut down that should mean everyone.

Stock is the oldest online market we have done in the past years, we employ it because of the highest
Quality of services it renders and how successful it is, today we now say crypto currency too, I'm just saying that people should develop the habit of investing, really helpful in life.

Can't you just walk over? It's hard to feel sorry for people that can easily get what they need but are too afraid to break the rules

Begs the question on if they only let her in cause the news showed up and Canada didn't want the negative press. She already tried on her own and they turned her down. smh

I grew up there in Point Bob as we called it. I loved the place. Still do. 18 years was a total blast. Riding the school bus to Blaine every day. Good memories for sure
