I Fixed My Piano's Sustain Pedal!

Pardon the out-of-tune piano, but I managed to fix my broken sustain pedal. Hopefully it lasts. :)

You can also tighten the knots and bolt next to the pedal inside the piano to raise or lower the rod As well to adjust it.

Just had to do the same thing today with our office piano! Apparently it hadn't been played for 10 years, and it had been killing me since I started there that it's been unplayable. Only took me a year, but I finally snapped today and decided to take a crack at repairing it. It was unfortunately more than a felt circle. I had to MacGyver a halved pen cap under the "stick" for both the soft and sustain pedals, but she sounds amazing now!!

there should be a screw you can tighten where the pedal first connects in the piano which adjusts how far you need to actuate the pedal to engage the sustain.

I hope I can fix my sustain pedal on my piano based on what you just showed then, you turn around and surprise us with your voice and how well you can play! Thank you! It's going to take me a couple of days to get under my Spinet to fix it, and the pedals are all to the left when the board comes out from the bottom, but, the principal should be the same. Thank you. I'll try something tomorrow...until then, I have a very cheap Williams full electric keyboard...problem with that is that it sounds a bit tinny and the keys aren't weighted like a Yamaha.

That's what we call as "Jugaad" in India.

That's awesome. Question: Anyone know where the rods go once up out of sight behind the keyboard? I had a squeaky sustain pedal and took the nut off today in order to get behind the mechanism - to avoid getting oil all over the place. I guess it got too loose because now the top end of the sustain pedal rod is moving all over the place - hoping it's not a big deal but taking the thing apart wasn't on my list of "honey dos" this weekend.
