The kid's story is hilarious and horrifying at the same time 😂

Apparently when I was coming out of anesthetic once I was speaking German so fluently that one of the nurses - a native of Munich - asked later where in Germany I grew up. I am not German and had only studied the language for a few years.

Fully discussed each year of law school and the bar exam with the surgeon performing my emergency c-section. His daughter was thinking about quitting law school after her first year, so we also discussed the pros and cons of the career. Being an Irish with red/brown hair helps me matabolize drugs quicker. Anesthesiologist said he gave me enough to knock down an elephant but nah, felt just like after one beer. Was up and walking to the NICU within 4 hours. Genetics are weird

Here’s a weird one for you. My mom has the release stages of Alzheimer’s, and about 10 days ago. She had to undergo a procedure on her wrist for some pins if she had it that I guess she came home the same day clearer than she’d been in over a year almost as if her Alzheimer’s had disappeared. We were actually able to discuss it with her and explain to her what I’ve been going on for last year because she had a lot of questions.

My 5yr old son had to get his tonsils out & the Dr. said a would be 15 min procedure turned into 2+hours, because his tonsils were the size of a 22 yr old! Post-op, his voice was several octaves higher & his constant gagging & vomiting calmed down tremendously!

I once had a hilarious patient that wouldn’t stop yelling at his wife, “don’t pay them, they didn’t do anything!” Oh baby, we did our job, maybe a little too well. 😌

I had a surgical procedure about 30 years ago and not long after I woke up the nurse had checked on me then left to get me some juice or something. I suddenly became extremely anxious and felt like I would die if I didn’t escape from that place. I sat up and ripped the IV from my arm and got up and found my clothes that were in the bag. I quickly got dressed and slipped quickly out of the hospital anddrove home. When I walked into the house my phone was ringing and it was my doctor asking me to please come back to the hospital and that I was experiencing a bad reaction to the anesthesia. I did go back and they put me back in the same room and sedated me. I stayed for a couple days after that. It was crazy. That’s why it’s so important to have a friend or family there to watch over you and not be alone. I never experienced anxiety to that level before and felt like I had adrenaline kicking in to for fear that I was about to die at that moment. I was told years later when I went into the hospital for another procedure when I explained my experience before they said they didn’t use that type of anesthesia anymore because of bad reactions 😅

At my first surgery, it was discovered I don't react to the anesthesia. After hours of trying, the doctors decided I'd have to be put in a medically induced coma. I woke up from the coma often enough that having a surgery would be worrisome. Years later, was having my tonsils removed (as a kid I had 8-10 strep throats a year, with infected ear drums; as an adult it was 2-3 times a year). Told the doctor of my resistance; he rolled his eyes. 3 hours later, he realized If have to be pit in a twilight coma. Later that year I was having my deviated septum repaired. That doctor was prepared!
The first surgeon wrote a paper on my resistance. Surgeons #2 & 3 were disappointed their papers wouldn't be "the first".

I was going in for a D&C at 10w pregnant after having a spontaneous miscarriage. It was at 7pm at night and it was a really rough day for me being in the obstetric unit with all the babies. The anesthetist was so amazing. He was so friendly and really cared for me and we had such amazing banter as i was being wheeled in to the OR. He made me forget why I was there. I really appreciated him being so friendly and kind on one of the worst days of my life.

Hahaha that's funny! When I had a schedule cesarean, I was laying there and couldn't move basically. And my husband and I were making jokes with our doctor because she's been my gyno for 20 years. And our poor anesthesiologist is looking at us. So confused. We asked what was wrong and he said I've never had a patient laughing while their guts were basically sitting on a tray and their doctor's hands were in their stomach before. To which we just laughed more.

I kept calling my doctor a ballerina, she was so pretty every time she did my surgeries 😩🤍 when I would wake up, I kept calling her beautiful.

I remember, after my back surgery, I told the nurse how hot he was. He was though lol 🤦🏼‍♀️

I could do that with my tonsils when I was 8!!! The surgeon was surprised I could swallow because they were so large. Thanks chronic strep and mono!

I’m reddish brown and a good part Irish. I woke up in the middle of surgery. I could see the lights above and everyone standing around. The anesthesiologist said, “hey, she’s awake.” Then he must have pushed some more nitenite juice, because I went back to sleep. I also remember watching the monitor on several of my colonoscopies. It’s kind of cool because it’s a part you never get to see.

I don’t think any kind of education would prepare me for that first kids tonsilosaurus thing 😂😅

I had a pt in the dental chair on her phone messaging her bf and from the reflection on the sunglasses i saw a nude he had just sent her.

Id once also just finished up on an implant case with the pt pre-opped with diazapam when she stood up, embraced me whilst im fully gowned, gloves bloodied and sobbingly announced her love for me.

I love this job

I don’t think you’ll ever see this. I had surgery like 12 days ago and I remember waking up and listening to the nurse talk to my dad about my next appointment. The first thing I said was correcting the nurse about my appointment. 😂 so I have physical therapy the following Monday and she thought that was my appointment with my surgeon. And I corrected her telling her that my follow up appointment with my surgery was Friday😂

I am not surprised about the 78 year old. I was just telling my husband that I feel so much smarter than I did when I finished nursing school in 2007. I believe that reading and teaching my kids had added to my knowledge as well as experience. Asking the nurse out isn’t surprising either. We are more bold in 2023 thanks to social media. That may or may not be a good thing.
