It’s basically an expanded and online version of Mission Mode from Mario Kart DS

It's really strange that they had this stuff tied exclusively to online when DS's missions were just a normal part of the game. I never got to experience these because my Mum was overly cautious about letting us do anything to do with the internet.

mario kart wii actually had plans for an offline mission mode, but they cut for unknown reasons but it's probaly because of time constraints. you can actually kinda play it but it's buggy af
