It's sad, because we could already be living the nuclear energy dream with lots of smaller fission plants. With today's technology, and smaller scale plants, it would virtually be safe, even accounting for natural disasters and war. Again, if invested in properly. I have been looking forward to fusion nuclear for a very long time, but I only recently realized how silly it is to be scared of fission.

I think it's quite amusing that scientist keep say how limitless, safe and without waste fusion is....
But they have no idea what it will look like it we ever develop it.

I've always been amazed by the idea of how nuclear fusion can fulfill all the Earthly energy needs. But it is still not viable in terms of controlling it. I wish humanity finds some way to utilise it.
With minds like you around, I'm hopeful.

The potential for fusion on the moon is incredible. We can power massive industrial mining and manufacturing with huge reserves of helium-3. Once we achieve that scale we can skip the breeder reactors that create radiation.

Profit is never benign, the have and have not, is a construct of wealth inequality, not sharing of fairness.
All that is designed as a utopia, is merely a capture of capitalistic wealth.
The failure as always, is an assumption to give freedom, while not understanding who or what is in control.
Even Nicholas Tesla was robbed by the principal of monopolies that stole the wires for profit.
We can play this game at the campsite, with our own ‘gas generator’, the public brings their own extension cords, pays for the gas and the generator, all is happy, then an engineer explains fairness, adds a ‘smart’ meter, paid for by the public assumption, and finds the threshold of extraction is a dance, without people noticing they are being taxed, far in excess of the original investment.
Business as usual.
Waste for profit continues.

The word Chernobyl translates to wormwood.
