My bad habit is definitely not stopping. As soon as I am on the bike, I ride and ride and don‘t take my time for a photo or eating. My brain just says „if the stop is longer than 30 seconds, it does not count as one ride“.

A definite no no is litter. No excuse for gel wrappers, empty CO2 canisters or punctured inner tubes. Put them in your pocket until the next waste bin or when you get home. Go Conor & Manon "Keep Cycling Tidy"

Bad habit #1 -- not bringing a light to save a few grams because "I'm sure we'll finish before it gets dark."

One point Connor mentioned was eating too much too early - my bad habit is just the opposite: eating and drinking too little too late. But since I intend to do some ultra-endurance-efforts this year, to fuel up regularly is the thing to practice and learn at the moment. The other bad habit is riding too hard. As Si and Dan pointed out in the GCN Show Ep. 479, riding slower makes you faster and I have to reign myself in to do my zone2-rides. Doing that has increased my VO2max by 20% during the last 8 weeks!

Going out on a group ride without any tools, spares, or nourishment and expecting others to provision you or have to make unexpected stops to get something.

"Si loves zip ties"
I chuckled on that one

Eh. Bananas, anything biodegradable is fine, IMO, as long as it's not in the middle of the street. I toss them in the bushes.

"Manon will come by with a megaphone and I'll sit on you." made me laugh out loud.

Mudguards all year round! It simply depends on where you are living and the local climate and road conditions. If you are up here in Scotland you will rarely find dry road without extended puddles of streams running across road coming from the field to the side.

People using their phone whilst cycling in traffic is a big no no and I am surprised this was not mentioned in the video

The worst habit is not looking after the person behind you. Keep checking they are still there; and if you see the guy in front looking round, call out "With You" to put his mind at rest.

Conor - I swear - I’ll pay money to go see you at a comedy club. Your delivery is just hilarious and it is always a highlight on Youtube 😂👏

Good stuff. I've heard the argument against dropping banana peels and apple cores on the ground, but I'm honestly not convinced. It may be an eyesore for a while, but a banana peel on the ground is better than a banana peel in a landfill :) Not everyone has a compost pile. Of course I am staunchly and absolutely against littering non-compostables.

The banana peel toss made me laugh a bit. First, if you are going to toss the remnants of your snack, readily compostable material such as an apple core of banana peel is not that bad. But I laugh because someone, not yet identified, does this nearby. One of our favorite group ride routes passes through an intersection that has a guardrail. The first part of the guardrail as we approach it has a "collection" of banana peels. It is obvious from looking at it that this is a regular route for one person who enjoys a banana at that spot again and again and again, and repeatedly tosses the peels onto the guardrail. It is something we point out to new riders, like a tourist attraction.

The terrible thing, since the peel would decay into compost quickly, is that the offending person could throw these peels 5 feet over the guardrail, and then no one would ever know. Right behind it is a swale that is totally overgrown with tall grasses and other weeds. If the peels reached the weeds, no one would ever see them.

In the countryside a carefully deposited banana peel in a hedge bottom I’d consider to be fine. In a city, nope.

Oraganic litter is not bad litter. It feeds the environment and is a good thing. Also, keep throwing your flatted tubes on the side of the road so I can pick them up and repair them for another epic ride.

Either bring it back home or put it in a litter bin. That includes apple cores, banana skins, orange peel etc.
Decomposition time:
Apple core = 2 months
Banana skin = 2 years
orange peel = 6 months
Just because it's organic doesn't mean its not litter. I wouldn't want someone throwing it in my garden.

Rubish eh? Totally agreed if you took out you have room to take it home but organics are ok to leave out as it great for the environment just don’t leave them visible on the road, chuck them out into the weeds and ditches and if you can’t then hold onto them for proper disposal

I toss my banana peels into the field. Can’t see the harm in that as they’ll decompose in no time. That’s the only time I don’t keep my trash with me.

Regarding banana skins, I think it's okay to toss them into a hedgerow, where they can decompose and end up improving the soil. Of course, this needs to be done with some discretion, to avoid giving cyclists a bad name as litterbugs.
