For those who cant decide which biome mod to get: Terralith and Tectonic can both be used together, giving you a deep range of sprawling biomes. Pair that with Distant Horizons and a shader that plays well with it (my recommendation is Bliss) and you have one of the most captivating and beautiful versions of Minecraft you can possibly play, and it's all vanilla friendly!

a fun fact about durability, is that you don't even need a mod for that! if you press f3 + H it automatically shows the durability of your tools and armor.

I genuinely just opened Youtube to get a guide on mods, since mine were breaking, and saw this was posted 34 minutes ago - meant to be! ♥Thanks for the help!

For those who want a mod similar to Terralith but not over the top with structures and the vast amount of biomes. You can try Blooming Biosphere datapack/ Mod, which is also compatible with Tectonic.

This mod selection is fantastic, some people in other videos are like "heres number 5, minecraft cars... Vanilla minecraft is missing a faster form of travel, cars are in real life, so why not in minecraft, it has a tonne of custom skins that you can craft (shows the most brainrot mind numbing random skin asset i have ever seen)

Anyways ahah, these mods really add to the overal vanilla minecraft experience in small ways but colldctivly really change the feel of the game. Great video!

BIG PERFORMANCE BONUS:
Make sure you increase the amount of allocated ram for each installation of the game. The normal 2 gigabytes is not enough (for my computer at least, RTX 3060 and ryzen 7 3700x) to load chunks quickly and consistently.

In the Minecraft launcher, click on the installations tab, edit the one you want to play, hit “more options, ” and under “JVM Arguments” the find where it says 2G. They should be the 5th and 6th characters. Change the 2 to an 8 and you will have MUCH faster chunk loading.

For anyone trying to build this modpack and it's crashing(1.21 version):
-You have to use the last version of FLOW(2.1.1)
-The version 1.1.5 of Sound
-And the 0.4.5 of M.R.U (Mineblock's Repeated Utilities) *both mods depends on this*

Thanks for the overview! I just replaced my 6 year old laptop with a new one and were looking for vanilla+ mods to enjoy minecraft a little more. Perfect timing!

19:30 For anyone with this lighting issue with the bushy leaves resource pack, try increasing your Shadow Sample Quality to at least "High" in your shader settings. This will enable optimised shadows for leaves and fix the lighting.

the shield biome is almost certainly named after and references the canadian shield, which is a huge thing of exposed rock and coniferous trees. fun fact, the canadian shield is one of the reasons canada is mostly empty. building, farming or doing anything related to civilization on the shield sucks, thus why it’s so empty

To fix the issues with the bushy leaves not being lit up, all you have to do is set Shadow Sample Quality to at least high in the Complementary shader settings

Everything regarding sound should be implemented in the base game. The fact that Minecraft has no ambiant sound is unacceptable
