Read on for some additional info / tips for your period ~

Why do we get period cramps anyways?

Answer: having too many prostaglandins (aka hormone-like compounds that cause uterus contractions) = period ouchies 😫

What causes high prostaglandin levels?

Answer: Inflammation! That’s why a balanced diet is key to reduce pms symptoms. You can also take herbal tinctures or supplements like the one we mentioned from @elixhealing to help regulate prostaglandin levels 💙

Best things to eat during / before period?

✅ Ginger: found to be as effective as ibuprofen in relieving menstrual cramps

✅ Omega-3s: nuts, fish, and seafood are all rich sources that help reduce inflammation

✅ Magnesium: also great for other PMS symptoms like mood swings and menstrual migraines. Dark chocolate and leafy greens like kale and spinach are great sources!

❌ Avoid: highly processed foods, or foods high in sugar, as these can lead to inflammation and heavier symptoms!

Also if your period is late don’t worry! It is most likely stress!
One way to help with this is to take a cold bath/shower for 5-10 min. I did this and got my period the next day. Hope this helps❤

Can you explain why cold food would cause contractions? Genuinely asking because i heard before that cold food will be turned to your body temperature once they are in

First tip has been passed down from generations. My mom taught me that hot food and liquids is the best when you’re menstruating. Now I’ve passed it to my girls.

My stomach hurts any day i have cold drinks or food
Cannot even have water cold :<

Never had period pain in my life.
This is good though because i do all these things omg so it's very helpful

I am not gonna brag. Now I am going to 34 soon but till now I didn't have any cramps or pain during my period. Since I got my first period till now, I always have regular period of 30 days cycle too.

I’ve not seen any research that supports the idea that eating or drinking cold foods have anything to do with increasing period cramps. It’s just another old wives tale that tries to limit and control what women can do. 🤦🏼‍♀️
