I tried Notion a few months ago, but I found that the work involved in setting up my own system with pages, databases, boards etc was too much. I felt like I was procrastinating by creating tasks for myself involving setting up a productivity system, when really good alternatives (like Trello) that are simple to use already exist. So I deleted Notion and just got to work. But I still get tempted to try it again sometimes, it looks so fancy and cool.

At the moment, I'm torn between the two. After using Trello pretty religiously for the past 18 months or so, I've been using Notion to manage tasks recently. Still not totally sold on Notion. I have moved a lot of my Evernote data into Notion, however. It's much better for linking ideas than Evernote is. As you said, Notion can be a little too complicated unless you have a lot of time to play with it. Tough call! I'll continue to test.

I use Trello for team collaboration and a google calendar for my personal tasks. Notion seems too complicated, too much work to manage it for my simple needs.

I have been using notion so far, but I agree with some other comments that say that they procrastinate when try figuring out what and how they're going to make their notes, so I am interested in start using trello, because it's simplicity and some friends use it as well and they are being really productive with it.

i used to use Notion for everything (tasks, calendar, note-taking, project management etc.) but i recently stopped using it and replaced it with apps for each category. Sorted 3 for task management, google calendar, roam for note taking and trello for project management and i feel like this is a lot better for me. don’t get me wrong notion is a great tool i just feel like it is not for me.

Thanks for that Scott. Agreed with the points - however when it comes to pricing, Trello is not restricted to a $10/month per user option for a team. I have a small team of 6 users and with Trello Gold (only paid by me), I pay $45 a year (that's 3.75 a month). This means that although it may not be packaged as a "Personal Pro" for individual users, it can be done very easily while still collaborating with other unpaid/free team members. I might call this a tie myself. ;) Thanks very much for the video. Great to compare and keep up with alternative options. I'm a happy Trello user and it's MS Teams integration is very good for my work.

We started with Notion for project management, and it worked well when our team was small. But as we grew, it just didn’t have the advanced features we needed. Switching to Orangescrum was the best decision—we instantly noticed how much smoother our workflow became. The task management and collaboration tools are super intuitive, and it’s made organizing our projects so much easier. Honestly, it’s been a game-changer for us!

I use notion as my brain. I found that I can adjust the way I see things in a format that helps me. As for trello, I like it but not as much as notion.

I recently left Trello. I am an individual user and Trello is focusing their growth in team applications. In talking with tech support on a performance issue, it was conveyed to me that single users, even with the Gold subscription, were not the future within their business model. Too bad. Now they get zero dollars from me and I had been a subscriber for several years.

Notion has replaced Apple Notes for me, and Trello is what we use for project management and collaboration. Both softwares are great!

Phenomenal and comprehensive video. I use both for different things...more content based and large amount of information in Notion and more project-based action items and to do lists in Trello. The customizations in both are off the charts and both premium project management tools when used the right way. Solid Review my man.

Thanks. I now can decide which one better for me. As a PhD student, certainly Notion is better since it is more personal, has more tools, easy to take notes, and we will always carry a laptop, not just a phone.

Clickup for Project Management, and I am trying to use Notion for Life Management and my personal goals, but there is something about Trello that just keeps me going back to it. Maybe its the visuals, I like having a background image, just wish the filter was better, the default filter sucks!!!!

I am veeery late to the party but here are my two cents. I took a different approach: To learn coding a created a Kanban board with notion-like views and an additional parallel system to work as notion. Basically combined both into one... in a very homelab style. Works great, though! Great review, thanks!

Notion. Brilliantly versatile. Research and work tool, you can build a second brain in Notion. Trello is simple, Notion allows you to build tools for a variety of tasks and integrate data across them. And its export is brilliant as well. However I suspect you have to be fairly technical to get the most out of Notion, at least understanding how relational databases work is really going to help you. It's not a turnkey app, but if you make the effort it can become your main workflow.

Thanks Scott!. I have been using Trello for a long time, and I am tempted to move to Notion. I am a researcher, so I feel Notion may be the best option. Right now my things are all over the place. However, how about content migration/data export? What if I want to migrate to something else in future. I wouldn't want to do everything all over again!

Thanks for the breakdown. I use Trello currently but was curious about Notion because of what some other game devs were saying about it. Personally, it looks a bit too much for what I need it for but maybe I might try to dip my toes in with a new project later down the line.
