our first predator attack... the hardest loss yet.

whew. y'all, I really hate feeling like all i share is bad news, but this week has been a very hard one for all of us. We lost our precious Fern, Poppy, Violet + Dahlia.

Loss is hard. I lost my little 4 yr old Yorkie to three coyotes who attacked her 8 feet from my front door. I got her from them, but it was too late. The Vet couldn’t save her. We buried her in our pet cemetery on our property and do you know those coyotes dug her up and took her. It broke my heart in ways I never imagined.
I think part of the deep pain we feel, is that we couldn’t protect them. They are in our care and so small and defenseless, especially those with special needs. My heart hurts for you Angie.❤️Know that you are in my prayers this week.

Plant some beautiful flowers for your pet babies… we lost our pet guinea pig this week (not that’s it’s on of any scale of your loss but she was our family pet) and we done exactly that we planted some pretty flowers in her memory on our garden. I think the hardest part is watching the children learning the hard lesson of loss and grief…Thinking of you all during this sad time xxx

I grew up in a suburb. I moved in with my husband on a farm 3 years ago. He’s been raised around life and death his whole life. I have not. It’s been hard for me to learn these lessons. I feel you and I see your caring heart ♥️

Grief is just love with no place left to go. Don’t feel embarrassed for crying, I’ve cried my eyes out when my pets died, even my fish. I felt silly crying over something so small, but really it is a testament for how much you loved your pet and how much it hurt to see them suffer. You have a big heart with so much love to give, even to the smallest of creatures. There is no shame in that.

I’m so sorry this happened. It hurts, it’s absolutely heartbreaking to lose beloved pets 😭 We have been in your situation more times than I’d like to admit owning livestock.
I think Aslan staying outside would be a great idea, it’s what LGD were bred for and he’ll surely deter predators

Please don’t feel bad about sharing this type of information with us. It actually helps me to feel that my emotions are valid. I recently had to put down my dog, Bruce, of 13 years. It was so hard and I’ve felt pretty numb to it since, and it’s been 8 months. It hurts, that’s just it.

A few weeks ago, our family suddenly lost our beloved cat, and I went through a lot of the same emotions, which took me by surprise with how hard it was. Like Fern, this cat was a special one. He was the most endearing cat I’ve ever known, and could turn the most staunch cat haters into people who loved him. It’s so hard, but it does get easier. Praying for you and your family. ❤️

I had a craw in my quails cage once and i was very lucky that my sisters looked outside her window at that moment and she screamed my name and ran outside and made the craw fly away. Without my Sisters there would have been much more damage but the craw did slit the throat of one of the quails and she was still alive, bleeding and lying on the ground. I had my dad come home from work so he could end her suffering (i cannot do that) but when he arrived, the quail decided to stand up and started eating and casually walk around (blood all over her). We then decided to try and safe her and we succeded ( i always try to Safe EVERY animal but she really looked like she wont make it with all the blood) She then lived a very happy quail life and recovered completely. Like you Said having animals is not just fun and games it also is A LOT of emotional and super hard situations but at the same time you get so much happy moments for all of these sad times ❤️

Your great Pyrenees needs access to the whole yard at anytime. He will do a great job. Loss is always hard. A dog door is a must.

The best thing I saw out of this video was that precious baby boy bringing his momma a flower. Melted my heart as I have 3 grown sons of my own. And that gesture and your son ( & children) means more than any animal. But you know that. He will always remember how you reacted to his gift.
I do understand the loss of these creatures. And the children have learned a valuable lesson about life & death.
