My great grandma died of Tuberculosis. When she died coughing an artery must have burst because more than a gallon of blood sprayed the wall. Despite painting and repapering the walls multiple times a stain would eventually begin to form in that exact spot. My uncle replaced the sheet rock. Again a dark stain. He remodeled and replaced the old studs thinking a pipe or leak was causing it. A stain has again appeared in that spot. It's been nearly 100 years and there are no pipes wires or leaks possibly causing this. It is now painted a dark color but the spot still shows.
