Mysterious red glow seen above Pacific Ocean

A mysterious red glow captured by a pilot flying over the Pacific Ocean has sent internet sleuths into a spin.

The phenomenon was later revealed to be arrays of red LED lights being used by fishing trawlers to attract a specific type of fish.

Every time a story involves something potentially supernatural or alien, the media always puts a "fun" twist on it to discourage serious discussion. Honestly I'd like to see them report the "important" news this way too.

The pilot has never seen something like that before. Imagine how high the airplane is and think how big is the red spot ... It's bigger than just a boat with red Each red spots maybe have 50 km ... See the clouds and notice the airplane is very high. Boats with red lights ??no way

This is literally a chinese fishing fleet, we've seen this a couple of times in Southeast Asia, South Pacific Ocean, and South Atlantic Ocean. They stay there to fish for several weeks and even a year until the area is almost completely out of fish and the reefs are destroyed. These guys have no respect for nature at all and I wish the world and the UN is made more aware of this before it's too late to prevent its consequences.

So let me guess this straight, pilots fly the route for 70+ years, first time anyones ever seen something like it, you can see the red lights from the international space station and commercial fisherman are responsible..

Sounds legit, I hope they managed to catch every cod in the pacific with those “see from space” LED’s.

Seems a bit odd. So they are very visible from many miles away. Wouldn't other pilots have seen them? Wouldn't it be something that pilots would talk to one another about? By the way the story is presented, the pilots on this plane are the very first ones to ever see these lights.
