A new update may be on the way for No Man's Sky. The Adrift Expedition is coming to an end on July 15th and we just got a single emoji tweet from Sean Murray. This usually means an update is close, so the timing is lining up for a new update next week for No Man's Sky. But what if it isn't for No Man's Sky? What if we are going to get an update for another game, maybe more info on Light No Fire is on the way......

They could do an expedition that's all on one planet in the theme of Light No Fire, like the Light No Sky role playing that the guys have been doing.

I'm crossing my fingers it's a new galaxy, and planets have multiple biomes. Planets now are just one biome, so it would be cool to get planets that feel like actual planets.

Planetary overhaul was my first instinct. But with the intro clip, im thinking its just LNF. I also think it could be a "civilization" update, as thats what earth is most known for.

I'd really like to see terrestrial pirates. Fighting them in space is great, but I'd like to accidentally find a hideout or outpost and suddenly find myself under attack. Would make the game feel a little bit bigger

I love how Sean Murry seemingly learned from his mistakes of overhyping. Promising too much when he talked about the game. They put in the work, the whole team, to make the game something worth being excited over. And now he only has to release a single emoji to get the crowd going.

More news on light no fire would be great, but if they stay true to form, we will see a NMS update very soon.

As for speculation about what this summers NMS update could be: a civilisational update, improved terrain or biomes… could they literally be dropping a simulated earth into the game somewhere?

I do love a bit of speculation, but as always, I’ll be happy with whatever they give us. The quality of their updates has really stepped up in recent years.

Wouldn't this be the summer update that normally is the larger one of the year?
HG did say that 2024 was going to be a big year for NMS and fro the most part we have gotten an expedition and space station overhauls which is great but doesn't currently compare to the description of "A Big Year"

Expedition ends on Monday... Think this means a Global Save system is coming in... Play your PC save on console for example or on Mac... Think this will be a small functional update with a new expedition that leads into the summer update and part 4 of the ARG.

Earth-like planets might mean planets with multiple biomes.

Planet type update, some graphics, UI tweaks, and code optimization and bug fixes.

Could be an update for world generation. And overhaul on the way planets render, maybe multi biomes on planets, more Lively animals, New vegetation.
