How to setup a Windows 10 FTP server - FileZilla FTP Server setup

In this video, we are going to be setting up a FileZilla FTP Server on Windows 10. This tutorial is quick and easy to follow!

Setting up your own FTP (File Transfer Protocol) servers is not very difficult. It will allow you to transfer files over your local network or over the internet with very limited restrictions. This can be a cheap alternative to using most cloud services.

An FTP server on your internal or external network is a fast and easy way to share files over the network. Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 come with a built in FTP server under IIS but I would recommend using this FileZilla server instead.

Lets set up an FTP server in 2021!!

That's an old version of a server, it's all different now in 1.1.0

You can use port forwarding to access the FTP server remotely. A feature in the server edition of FZ lets you create certificates. I do not recommend sending passwords over the internet for obvious reasons. If you want to use the application on your internal network remove the default gateway from the network settings. This will block the NIC from connecting to the internet. I use this solution with SoftEther but I have to have another NIC that does reach the internet so I can VPN into my home network.

Do you have a link for the version of filezilla server in your video? Only version 1.0.1 is available on FileZilla's website, and I can't quite configure it right. (When I try to add a directory, it keeps saying it can't be a relative path or something...)
