Join fire and life safety leaders at the IAFC/FLSS Community Risk Reduction Leadership Conference for this live fire and sprinkler demonstration. Lorraine Carli, HFSC President/NFPA VP of Outreach and Advocacy will host the event. Zoe Susice, Senior Director, Research Amplification with UL’s Fire Safety Research Institute, will discuss research on the effectiveness of fire sprinklers and the new OREE K-12 program. Chief Josh Waldo, incoming IAFC President, will narrate a live fire and sprinkler side-by-side demonstration using a NFSA’s trailer.

One- and two-family homes present the greatest fire risk to residents and responding firefighters. Home fires can become deadly in as little as two minutes because of modern construction methods, synthetic materials and furnishings and emerging technology such as lithium-ion batteries. That is why home fire sprinklers play a vital role in community risk reduction. Every year, more than 1 million homes are built in the U.S. and they should all be protected.

I never understood why Apartments, hotels, and office buildings are required have fire sprinklers and single family houses do not. This reenforces my belief that ALL new homes should be required to have fire sprinklers.
