BEST Microsoft Office Replacement? - OnlyOffice in Linux

preview_player
Показать описание
OnlyOffice for desktop is a free and open source office suite that features alternatives for Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Their are two primary factors that makes this a great alternative. First, general compatibility with Microsoft document formats and the similar user interface.

Disclosure: The OnlyOffice team has sponsored this video. With this my opinions are my own. The terms of sponsorship where to highlight the desktop application features as well as talking about some of the premium offerings from OnlyOffice.

I emailed them and asked for a response to your comments! They are working on the RTL, but it's difficult.
"The issues the viewers brought up (RTL, cell protection) are known pain points, we are working on them. RTL is especially a tricky one, the work is in progress for a long time and people are not happy with it, but we are well aware and trying to do our best."

You should make comparison about Libre Office vs WPS Office vs Free Office vs Only Office

Biggest issue with it is that it doesn't support right-to-left languages. Makes it nigh unusable for a lot of people.

It would be great if they support protected cells when editing Excel files, but it seems that has been one of the longest open feature request ticket that yet getting any solution.

This is the only app in Linux I could find that provided the support I needed for fancy formatting in DOC documents. Unfortunately, links added to documents do not work in exported PDF files. That is a real bummer for things like proposals.

It has what even Libre Office on Windows doesn't have: a proper DARK theme! Dealmaker for me.

Thank you sir, I have briefly used this in the past, but noticed that it's preinstalled on Manjaro now. Therefore, I will be using it more in the days to come. Again, thanks

I like it's spellcheck that comes default.

Libreoffice still problematic with non English language's spellcheck.

The only problem for me to not using that program is that it doesn't have font ligature support. Due to this, you can't use it for many languages such as Bengali, Hindi, Arabic etc.
This problem is existing for more than a year.

I've only used Libre office (even when I was a Windows user and too poor to own Office 😂) but I definitely will give this a try I like it's layout and usability.

At first glance I thought this was about BlueStacks, and then I read the title and looked at the thumbnail more carefully. They need to improve that logo to make it more recognizable, cuz it's way too similar to the BlueStacks one.

This office suite is the only office suite (no pun intended) I will ever use. I even install them on my Windows machine as a replacement to MS Office.

I tried to use libreoffice before but for some reason it kept pissing me off so much that I'm actually jealous at people who are able to use them normally.

I didn't know this one is open source and free. So why all distros are Libre Office centric? Do you have any idea about that? Firefox and Libre Office are inevitable for Linux distros?

I use onlyoffice a lot, mostly because for the compatibility. The only big drawback for me is the lack of trend lines and error bars on graphs in the spreadsheets. I can live without error bars (afaik neither Libre office nor ms office online do them right for my needs) but the lack of trend lines is a bit of an issue. The absurd thing is that you can calculate it, it just won't display on the graph (at least up to version 6.3)

I agree with you, but one thing that i found is bad is the lack of "print preview" option. It is really basic thing that is missing.

I use it on the mobile, but it's not Open Source I think. Am I right?

The only reason I maintain a copy of Windows on one of my machines is so that I have Microsoft Office, as I have not yet found a Linux office application that hasn't had formatting issues with some documents.

It's looks fine regarding MS compatibility but it does not support RTL So It will work properly for Arabic

Good for Win-to-Linux switchers to feel home, but ... UI ... common ... why no (at least optional) GTK, but hardcoded windows 10 UI?
