This has been going on since the 2000s. My friend's dad and I were talking about how the potato chip bags were getting smaller but prices up. This was about 2005 or so.

Shrinkflation is NOT included in the inflation rate, if the price doesn't go up. So just double the inflation rate, and you'll be about right.

Shrinkflation is easy to spot especially on everyday products you buy. Coke use to be 8oz but is now 7.5oz cans. And many other. If people open their eyes while they shop, they'll figure it out.

I work for a big manufacturing company, and have seen them increasing prices on our products, but yet people are still buying it. And what we produce is not a need it's a want, and yet we are breaking records on sells. We could double our prices and put much less and Americans will still buy it, so it doesn't matter.

I buy the 18 pack of cage free eggs, they went up an entire $1.00 in about two weeks! I looked up their profits and yes, over the top from last year same time!
