Companies are still doing this because people keep buying it.

Love this story and information. All we have to do as consumers is BOYCOTT the products and the companies will get the message. You did sort of mentioned that in the video. Thanks

Lays chips are insane. 6-7 bucks for a bag of air. I may as well start frying up my own chips.

If a package says something like "NEW LOOK!!!, SAME GREAT TASTE!!! on it, that's a tip-off that they've probably shrunk the package size.

Food companies underestimate my ability as a consumer to just stop buying their product

I was at the store and saw the Tide laundry detergent, the containers are now comically small for the same price.

Canned goods is where I notice it most. Coffee used to come in 1 pound cans, they're now down to 12 ounces. Tuna used to be 8 ounces and now it's down to 5.25. And things that include liquid in the can, like canned tomatoes, give you more liquid than tomato now. The cans are still the same size, you just get less of what you're paying for. And oh yeah, then there is frozen pizza. The round pizza used to fit snuggly in the square box but now it rattles around in there. I estimate the diameter of the product is about an inch smaller than it used to be.

Not only is shrinkflation deceptive and more expensive, it's also: a bigger waster of packaging, more difficult to meal plan (when you're used to a bag feeding your whole family, now you need one and a half), and takes up more room in your pantry/fridge/freezer.

You can't even boycott a product anymore either. The big corporations own most of the grocery store now, leaving the consumer with few different options. All we can do is use as little of the things we don't need and are just wants. Its not much, but not buying something is about all the power we have left.

Shrinkflation has been going on for decades .Back in the 1960's and early 70's a large bag of potatoe chips was one large bag with 2 individual bags inside inside for 70 cents or less . By the mid 70's that large bag of chips was only one bag . By the 80's the bags started to increase to a $ 1 a bag and had air pumped in them which they claimed was to protect the chips from being crushed . Ever since the 70"s quantity stared to go down and the prices started to go up.on chips, cookies, crackers, coffee, cerial and people still buy

I don't have any loyalty to brands anymore. I look for the most amount of food by oz and cheapest price per that oz. I am tired of companies thinking that we don't notice. At the end of the day we have to eat so I am going to do my best to not buy the brands that are taking advantage of the consumer the most, hard but at least I am trying. People are barely eating due to such high prices and they ALSO want to reduce the amount you get per bag?! These companies should be punished somehow. 😡

The same companies that whined about having to update packaging for nutritional info somehow were able to resize and remark packaging to pump up their profits to an obscene amount

There is no reason for us to be getting goods shipped to our country, and there is no reason for us not to be completely autonomous in production and manufacturing. This is what happens when other countries own you, this is what happens when you let so called American companies get their goods and products from other countries and do their manufacturing in other countries. We are reliant on shipping, we become hostages to other countries, footing the bill for tariffs, taxes, shipping, and all the lovely special things that come with it.

Big name brands are the worst offenders.

Stop buying junk food! Don’t support them with your dollars

I've never once bought iced tea. I've purchased tea bags and make my own. My dad's comic books were 64 pages for a dime. When I was a child they were 32 pages for a dime. Now they are dollars each with many pages of ads. Everything shrinks, costs more. If you want to keep up invest in yourself so you can earn more.
