How to find Work when pV=constant in an Energy Balance for Closed Systems problem

preview_player
Показать описание
This Thermodynamics example problem involves a Polytropic Process with pV=Constant, expansion or compression work, and an Adiabatic Process, all in a Refrigeration Cycle.

I strongly recommend you start by writing the closed system energy balance equation for each process. Then just fill in your givens, and solve for the easiest Work terms first using the pV Diagram. Vertical lines will be easiest, then horizontal lines, then save the curves for last. The Cycle Energy Balance is used to find the last internal energy term.

The end of the video explains the difference between refrigeration and power cycles.

Why use p1v1 to solve for C? why not p2v2?
