This is my first hands-on video about the Arturia Keylab Essential 88 MK3 keyboard. The Arturia Keylab Essential 88 MK3 is a full size, budget keyboard that Arturia makes. I discuss the features, the build quality, the key and pad feel, the new screen, DAW compatibility and demo all the features including sound demos with Arturia's Analog Lab. The Arturia Keylab Essential 88 MK3 has lots of NEW features including an arpeggiator, chords, drum pads, encoder knobs, faders, and more. But this keyboard may be missing a few small features. Watch and find out!

I can't wait for the KeyLab MK3 88! I recently purchased the MK2, but after seeing this video, it makes sense to wait a few more months for the MK3 88.

Love my MK2. The keybed is perfect for me, I'm not a pro player. Just use it to Sequence stuff. Love the integration with Arturia VST's.

Let's just hope, this year, they drop a KeyLab (not essential to roll a better screen too) MK3. Poly AT would be a must, imo. Sadly, I feel Arturia (for controllers), is chasing Native Instruments, while Novation is chasing Arturia... at least in a timeline. And - for me, the NI just doesn't fit the bill. A controller needs to, well, control, well - DAW, plugins and not just NKS. There is so much wasted real estate on a Kontrol MK3.

I actually don’t understand why the display is the biggest feature on this keyboard 99% of all people use it in front of a giant display called monitor 😂 poly aftertouch would have been nice

I like the Keylab Essentials because they are lightweight, compact, and look smart. I think this keyboard is a good option for those with limited space as its easy to move and stack on its side when not in use, its also good for transport to live shows or to a different studio.

About 6 months ago, I suspected this was coming, but I couldn't wait for it to possibly not come. So I got the mk2 essential, and I am loving it. I'm still a little bummed that I didn't ultimately get this one...if only I knew...

Looks really nice. The only negative point is no aftertouch

Man, I would love to get one of these, but my setup works for now: I have a studiologic SL88|Studio for full hammer action keys (I am a pianist), an Alesis VI25 with 16 pads and full size synth action keys and my favorite piece of hardware the Arturia MicroFreak. I just need to have about 6 months of free time to learn all the features of each :D Great review, and keep up the great work Sanjay, always a pleasure to watch you! Big heart to Dharti!! (Edit: how well does this work with Reaper?)

After seeing some reviews on YT including Sanjay C's, I bought the 61 key version (delivered last week) . Now you do a review/demo of 88 ! 🤥. Well since this is so cheap, I'll buy the 88 too.😛 For those complaining about lack of After-touch, seriously ! A ton of great songs/hits were written w/o after-touch. In fact I'd like to know all the massive hits that were written with After-touch ! 😂🤣😂

Great information with the pros and cons. Greatly appreciated! Will stick with my Keylab MkII for now, but if/when that gets an update, I'll be eager to see if they include that screen.

I don't mind the clickies; they help my old ears know whether I actually pressed them or not. 🤣

I bought the 61 keys but did´t like the feel of the keys so I returned it. I just got the 88 keys. Keyfeel is a lot better. I´m holding on to this one. Thanks for the video !

Great overview. And I love how you always do the pros/cons vs. other things at a similar price point. 🔥

I've owned the original KeyLab 88 Essential and I've never actually used or looked at the onboard screen or use DAW functions. I like the 88 lighter keys...Only thing that I would want added would be polyphonic aftertouch. Unfortunately it's not added on the new version.

Is there any difference when it comes to touch feel between Essential 88 MK3 and Essential 88 MK2? What would be key difference between those two in general?

I would really like to own this or the Native Instruments Kontrol S88 Mk3. But space is definitely an issue for me. I wish some of the smaller keyboards had better key action!

Thanks again @Sanjay for the lovely review. I find Arturia's sounds to be the best, but NI is a very, very close second.

I am going to wait for the Keylab MK3 instead of the Essential. If it had aftertouch I might consider this as I have several VSTs that make use of aftertouch. I currently have the MK2-61 and want to get an 88 key version.
