The notation that Robert Wadlow was known for his kindness and compassion is very true. My mother (1926 - 2019) grew up a couple of blocks away from the Wadlow's in Alton Illinois and she told me that he never failed to say something nice to Mom. People in Alton did not treat Robert Wadlow as a freak or a curiousity but as the kind gentleman he was who struggled as best he could with his situation.
