I am a homeowner who doesn't like to have to 'give in' and take my power tools to the shop. Nothing against those hard working folks who repair things for a living, I just like to tinker and am decent with my hands. On my first attempted use of my non-commercial BR700, it would only run on 3/4 choke. It ran fine when I put it up last winter! I checked the spark arrester (this has gotten me more than once), changed the air/fuel filters and spark plug - same thing. It would not idle and giving it throttle would kill it. I used my iFixIt tool kit that my son gifted me for Christmas as it had a 4mm socket and opened H screw 2 turns (CCW) and L screw 1 turn (CCW) and she runs like a dream again. Thanks for this video as it gave me the courage to jump in and make adjustments.

I use a STIHL backpack Leaf Blower at my golf course grounds keeper job. I have to blow all the spent golf tees off the tea areas, along with leaves, grass clippings, and other fallen debris. This STIHL unit works so much better than my 4-cycle Ryobi handheld blower that I use at home. You get what you pay for.

Cool man! I would have said the spark screen was plugged! Nice tip Brutha....

I’m no mechanic but the first thing I’d check is the spark arrester. Then air filter and gas filter.
In other words, check the easy stuff first. Messing with the carb would be the last thing I’d try because that’s the thing I’d most likely screw up.

But this man knows what he’s doing and I’ll bet he eliminated other possible causes first.

My 800 was just doing that due to someone adding to much oil in the mix, just ran straight gas to burn our excess oil and shes running fine again. Still Love your videos!

My Stihl FS130 trimmer started bogging down after a bit of operation. I discovered if I cracked and reclosed the fuel tank it sorted it out. Obviously the tank ventilation is clogged, but it looked like to sort that, it required pulling off the carb so I just crack the tank cap every 20 minutes or so, but then I use the machine rarely except in Spring.

I was going to say clean the spark arrestor screen. Oh well.

Nice fix. Dave if you're eyeballing this Stihl, yes, it would benefit from a rebuild.

Mine has this problem, I was going to take it for maintenance but now I'm going to try to do that first, thanks

might be worth mentioning the dangers of adjusting too lean.

Are you using the right oil with it, adjusting the carb is a good way to burn your Stihl backpack blower. If you listened to this video, pull the plug on your machine, if it's white, it's running lean, not getting enough oil and it will burn up soon.

My first thoughts were spark arrestor fouled or the air filter too dirty.
