ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
A "hook" is a very common phrase in songwriting. If you want your songs to be catchy, you should make them "hooky." The "hook" is what "pulls" the listener into the song. All of this, most people can agree on. But if you actually approach a songwriter, they can often tell you if a song has a hook or not, but most might really struggle to actually DEFINE what a hook really is. So, that's what Logan Crockett, VP or Marketing for Full Circle Music, attempts to do in this video! After watching, it should be a little bit more clear exactly what a hook is and how you can use one in your songs.

You know how you're hanging out talking with someone and there's music playing somewhere in the background and either you or the other person says "No, wait! wait! I love this part"
Well...everybody loves that part of that song... that's the hook.
It draws you in...that's why it's called a "hook".

I always explained that the song hook is what makes any song immediately identifiable from any other song.

So its like Megadeth's "Hello Me! Meet the real me!" Literally everyone who hears the song once remembers that one weird AF line lol

I thought a hook was where the song's going one way, and then suddenly the rythm switches up like a car shifting gear. The first time you hear it, it sends a tingle down your spine, and then everytime you hear that song again you're just waiting for it.

The best example i can think of is that scene in Dumb & Dumber when they listening to Bohemian Rapsody by Queen. When the hook drops they all start headbanging.

I Went To DEAR MOMMA By TUPAC After Listening To That Song I Then Went Over To THE MERKINS PARODY Of R.I.P. TUPAC DEAR MOMMA.
