I know that having 2 wings is optimal for flight(for birds) due to the fact we don't have animals like Microraptors today. But I still wish there were more of them because they look cool and might fill a niche in heavily forested areas.

Used to remember the main argument against flight was dinosaurs didnt have the huge wishbone/keelbonesetup birds do, but I also never heard the explanation why BATS fly just fine without it either.

Another important factor of flight is bone density. Since it’s kind of impossible to really tell of a microraptor had hollow bone structure due to the sediments replacing the bio material (and filling out the gaps), we can only assume

If I remember it correctly it was specifically the species Microraptor Gui that was capable of flight while the other 2 species couldn’t fly. So gliding and flying microraptors are technically both right depending on the species used.

I remain skeptical: it didn't have a keel and the large flight muscles of modern birds. And we don't have any birds that have hands with unfused fingers for climbing today. Nor do we have tree to tree gliding birds to compare them too.

It’s actually been rumored that velociraptor may have been able to fly as well. It’s said some died mid flight (I mean by extinction).

Of course this is just a rumor but they were pretty small and had feather giving the gliding ability. If it couldn’t fly then it could’ve glided is my guess.
