A Story about the TCP/IP Protocol Stack

Network protocols can’t work alone. They need help from other protocols and layers. CBT Nuggets trainer Keith Barker provides a different way of looking at the TCP/IP stack to help reinforce how protocols work together.

Thank you for so well explaining that Encapsulation of packets that so well conveyed with the cups. I very much get it. Your a great teacher and they aren’t always a great many of them who can take complex info and make it fun, simple and understandable the info.

I just ordered a bunch of cups. This is the way i can teach my kids about how this works. An easy way to understand this concept.

Great video series. Very helpful. Favorite line, "Talk to your friends and loved ones about how a protocol stack operates" and just say, " 😂🤣

I watched analogies and this is where I found the FUN in understanding TCP IP stack. Love the energy.

From my amatuer understanding,

the cups are like packets that wrap other packets as their message/content. Each packet nested inside each other has header fields that actually make up the protocol which can be used by software/hardware to perform services.

Thank you for using a simple visual example to explain the layering process of data exchange on a network. There are many videos out there that seem to present this topic in a mystic and complicated way. Your series is a refreshing way of explaining and teaching a topic that is often reserved for gurus and brainiacs. Now, even I get it.
