This particular myth needs to be in a full video rather than short form because it doesn't explain the whole issue and probably creates more confusion than Clarity. A lot of people are confused in these comments.

My gynecologist (who delivered me) caught cushings disease that other doctors repeatedly missed, but at the time I was hurt when she referred me to an endocrinologist because I went to her for help. I realized that she was doing the best thing possible by sending me to a specialist. She did handle some things at first like excess testosterone, but once she realized how high my cortisol was she knew I needed to see an endocrinologist.

I struggle with trusting an OBGYN who gets money from drug companies recommending birth control to women for hormonal issues. If diet helps with hormonal issues, you’re losing money.

Lots of people don’t trust the medical/pharma anymore. That’s on all involved in the medical
Industry. You’re gonna have to earn trust back.

I appreciate that you are calling out the improper use of it as a "buzz word" and that there are no set levels for hormones being "balanced" ... but hormones can definitely be "imbalanced". Imbalanced hormones can cause a whole host of issues like depression and migraines. It's also why there are so many conditions that predominantly affect women because our hormones fluctuate so often.

After all these years my neurologist noticed my bloodwork was showing very low vitamin D for the past 6 years. Just saw the endocrinologist she recommended, found out that my homocysteine levels were very high, so i am now taking folic acid. She also found that my parathyroid isn't working. So now I am actually so happy that the neurologist noticed it was off and it explains a lot of my issues. No one seems to care once your done having kids and get older.

Sorry to say, but the traditional doctors conventional doctors kept throwing anti-anxiety medication’s at me until I went to a hormone doctor, and found out that my hormones were tanked and it wasn’t until then till things started feeling better so sorry but after years of feeling like shit and getting the proper blood work done, things do improve however, many people are on into depressants because they feel awful and they really don’t need to be on anti-depressants if they would just see what their hormones are

Drs only know what they have been taught in medical school which is limited in the realm of nutrition. Nutrition is key to our bodies (including hormones) functioning properly. Speaking from being hormonally imbalanced for 12 years, going to many specialists who couldn’t find anything wrong and researching myself and finally finding information from doctors who are willing to dig deeper to get an answer. I needed progesterone. It corrected almost all of my symptoms. Then I wanted to find out why my progesterone was low. I didn’t have enough LDL cholesterol to support my body producing enough of the hormone. I’m 13 years well (no symptoms) now and proof that hormones can be imbalanced. The food we eat is is critical to wellness and can screw up a whole body if it’s the wrong kind of foods. Processed foods, sugar, vegetable/seed oils are not things that are agreeable with our human bodies and can cause malfunction. This is not emphasized enough in the right way. So much gets lost in a 10 minute visit. As a nurse of 28 years, I’m so disheartened in what I see. I appreciate you doctors who take the time to educate and, also, to never stop digging and learning in order to give the best information to your patients.

For anyone wanting more info/ context, this clip is from a video from last year titled: "Gynecologist Debunks Viral Birth Control LIES." This part starts around the 21 minute mark.

Unbalanced hormones can include endocrine dysfunction which is not a myth and does have a lot of nasty effects

I have migraines, that are triggered by my menstrual cycle. It matches up with the egg release and menstruation. My neurologist said it was because of the hormones fluctuating.
Is that different from what people call hormone imbalance? If so I would like to know how ❤

Yeah, mama jones. This needs to he much longer. One can absolutely have imbalanced hormones that can eff up our physical or mental health unless treated

My gyn used this to try to get me back on birth control. She tried to say that going back on birth control would reverse the negative effect of it on my body. Both sides need to chill the less toxins and chemicals is indeed better but medication is necessary for certain conditions

If I am to believe this, I’m going to need a lot more solid info. My estrogen began to run very high after my first couple of periods, causing DEBILITATING pain. I’m talking lying on the floor not being able to move, barely breathing, writhing like a sad little worm just to try to get it to stop. The moment I got on EstroDIM (basically a pill to lower estrogen) it helped exponentially, and the one cycle I forgot to take it was my worst to date. Since then I’ve also needed bioidentical progesterone.
I do have endometriosis and PCOS genetics (endo mom, PCOS sister), so that probably has a lot to do with it, but I personally haven’t been diagnosed with either. Calling it hormone imbalance and balancing the hormones sure worked for me.

I use that term for any conditions related to my hormones not working right around my cycle… menstrual headaches are from too low of a progesterone dip. There are things that help this, therefore they are balancing the hormones. There’s a slew of other hormone related conditions that those natural things help and directly correspond with. She may not like the wording, and there may not be clinical numbers they are trying for, but there needs to be a personal balance with how your hormones are functioning or your body falls apart. A lot of things can aid in that process to seek balance.

I take the mini pill (progesterone only pill) to stop me having mood swings (I don't need it for contraceptive purposes, so this is the only reason I take it). Without it I get mood swings the week before, the week of, and the week after my period, so I only feel "normal" 1 week of the month. With the mini pill, I don't get those mood swings (and often don't get a period either - score!) What would be the technical term for what it's doing if it's not "hormone balancing"?

Balance of hormones means your bloodwork level for each hormone is within the recommended range. It is a real thing. The problem is natural people who like to offer “remedies” without actually doing any bloodwork.

Does anyone have the link to the original video? I'd love to hear more about this. "Hormone imbalance" has been thrown in my face so many times by people (that aren't doctors)
