Chicken Fried Steak is what they had. It is a pounded beef steak that is breaded and fried up like fried chicken. Hence, it is "chicken fried" (beef) steak, not fried chicken steak!

The item you inquired about “looks like crispy cheese” is actually hash browns, basically shredded potatoes that is fried on a griddle, I love them with eggs, sausage and toast.I would mix the eggs, sausage and hash browns then enjoy them on the toast or mix them and put either strawberry jam or mixed jelly on the toast all these a a cup of coffee is my comfort food

Just for the record, “Chicken Fried Steak” is not chicken and does not involve chicken 😊

The name is confusing, but it’s simply a flattened cheap beef steak that’s breaded and fried with the same coating normally used for fried chicken (hence the name)
