That’s when the villain realised that:
The villain would destroy the world to save his loved ones
The hero would do anything to save the world

I adore that the villain cannot fathom why anyone would turn their back on their loved ones. The world has scorned and burnt the villain, but their loved partner has treated them like a human instead of a monster who's about to snap.

A wise man once said -

A hero will sacrifice you to the world, A villain would sacrifice the world for you.

It's all fun and games until the hero says -
"I'll sacrifice myself just leave the city AND my love out of this!!!"

plot twist: the villain is the husband

The villain didn’t expect for this to be an quick choice for the hero. There’s only a look between the husband and the hero. In my opinion you can spin this two ways with similar reasoning:

1. This hero knew what would happen if she chose her lover. She’d turn her back on the people, she’d turn her back on her duty, and she’d turn her back on her husband ultimately. A true hero chooses the selfless path, no matter the consequence. The hero knew she couldn’t truly open her heart to someone, but did it anyways with the hope that she could secretly live a double life. The villain, thinking that she’d finally found the weak spot in the hero tests the hero’s loyalty to the city by putting up her husband for ransom. The hero knows what she must do, and doesn’t enjoy it, however she won’t fight back in fear of sacrificing her husband in vain. Choosing the city doesn’t just shock the villain, it concerns the villain. How can she win against a hero who has nothing to lose??

2. The villain expected the hero to fight back, she expected the hero to want to save both. Yet, the hero quickly chose the city. The choice wasn’t simple for the hero, her eyes genuinely look remorseful. The hero looks down before she looks right into the eyes of the villain. This is a look of guilt, as if the hero never even loved the husband enough to fight back. She may have cared, but she never truly loved. The hero looks straight at the villain, meaning she’s set in her decision. She doesn’t cry, she doesn’t look back at the husband, she doesn’t even use that answer as a distraction to get the upper hand. She took the two choices and ran with the choice that would’ve given her more glory. How do you win against a hero whose just as corrupt as the villain?

True answer is “you”. Save the villain from their pain and loneliness, then there’s no more threat and everyone’s safe 😎

The hero knew if she said husband many people would die but her husband is one person

Plot twist: the hero chose the city bc they know that the husband actually has a plan to save himself and is more than capable of protecting himself, being captured on purpose to collect information. The hero and their husband planned this in the beginning, two birds with one stone

Honestly even tho its a very hard choice, i also would choose city. Saving thousands of people instead of one is the better choice

The hero is willing to sacrifice one to save many

But the villain sacrifices many to save one.

Plot Twist: The husband *is* a part of the city

theory: the villain was in a similar situation in the past, and their s/o decided to save the city instead of them. hence began their villain origin story. this is why the villain is so shocked to see the hero pick the city over their lover. the villain is desperate to see if real love does exist while the hero only craves glory.

Edit: i went thru the comments and i love how many takes people have on this. eliana didn't really clear out exactly what she meant by this she left it up to interpretation. it's interesting to see everyone's take on the villain and hero, and this is just mine:)

PLOT TWIST: The hero intentionally chose to save the city because if the city is saved, then the citizens in the city will be saved and if the citizens are saved, then her husband can also be saved cz he is a citizen living in that city.

That is the difference between a hero and a villain
A hero would do anything to save a city/public while the villain strives to save his beloved❤

This is the truth, The villain can destroy the world but will save their loved ones but a hero can kill their loved ones for saving the world
