Dont forget the "Baking Zone" with areas for baking tools and rolling space.

Yes, Yale does indeed have free fresh baked cookies! I'm in process of renovating my kitchen and decided to purchase appliances from them. They have many, many videos that compare different models, which really helped me find the right level of features. The saleperson was helpful and not at all pushy. Two stoves from the same manufacturer seemed very similar in features but one was $700 more.than the other. I asked why and the salesperson said "branding." I have no need to pay $700 for a label. I appreciated her honesty.

Loved your comments on both videos....Your jacket, however, was clearly much better than mine

3:22 is that a wall oven under the gas cooktop?
I thought I wanted that arrangement until I saw them installed that way in the home center.
It might be all right for somebody young and agile, but those of us planning to age in place need to remember, we don't get younger.

What a great informative video! Fab collab ! Wall oven, ahh, on my next kitchen reno list. Love the sport jacket, Mark.

My problem with wall ovens is that I'm short, which makes it even more difficult and dangerous to reach what's in the oven because of the door. I will have to stick with the old school range.

I would never put kitchen on an island.
And never put a stove or cooktop on an island.

I live alone, and have recently replaced most of my small appliances with a Thermomix. That, my Ninja toaster oven and my Instapot. All the rest is gone. The Thermomix and the toaster oven are the only appliances that live on the counter in my food prep area. My problem is that because I have upper cabinets, I constantly have to move the TM forward because of the steam it generates, this loses space for prep. I NEVER use my regular oven (except as storage for pans) and rarely my cooktop. I like closed upper cabinets. I am trying to find solutions so I can stop having to move it all the time. I use it several times a day.

My other buggaboo is corner cabinets, don’t even get me started on those 🤦🏼‍♀️

Although I like the idea of not bending that a wall oven gives, if you’re short and it’s a traditional oven you’re still bending reaching over the oven door, which is going to be hot, unlike the OTR reaching up where only the food and possibly container is hot. This to me makes a wall oven more dangerous for potential burns than an OTR unless it’s a French door type. In my small kitchen with my small budget it’s probably a moot point. I’ll likely go with an all in one range.

Good stuff. It seems to me that if one has the space (which many of us don't), every oven should be as close to counter level as practical, and have easy access to landing space. I'm writing this as someone who's now 75 years old and has a 72 square foot kitchen. I don't use my oven because lifting heavy pans with hot food is something I want to avoid.

I would love an induction cooktop. Separate wall oven is much easier than bending down to handle the oven in the usual stove. Lots of drawer space - yes!
And yes, Mark, you have converted me to want the one bigger sink rather than a double sink.
In the meantime, I'm in a seniors residence with the fridge beside the stove, no counter between, opposite a single sink. " It's a nook!"

mark: do you offer full kitchen design in Toronto?

Thank you! I have been following you both for a while and I'm getting great tips for our future kitchen renovations. One of the first things I learned was how to choose the right sink for the cook! I wish our kitchen was large enough for a separate wall oven and cooktop, but it's just not in the cards for our awkward layout.

Good information. I am still planning my dream home, and I have found Yale always gives great ideas, even though it's in a totally different country. I have also watched Mark's channel still thinking about cabinets. I love my old cabinets' tounge and groove drawers but they are too expensive today

I definitely wouldn't have thought of Yale when considering kitchen design.
