Urologists are always going to suggest prostatectomy -- surgical removal. That is their bread and butter, how they make money. That is the most invasive option even if done laparascopically. There are other, better treatment options. Don't rush into RP surgery.

My psa levels have been 12.4 for the last 12 months. Ive had 2 mri scans and my Urologist reassured me that no prostrate cancer is showing only inflammation and a slightly enlarged prostrate, both would raise a high psa score. But im still a little nervous.

I went from 4 two years ago, to 6.5 this year. I have no problems urinating at all, but I'm still concerned.

My dad has a PSA total of 16.57*
After 12 days tested and come down to psa (total) 10.700 ng/ml and psa (free) 1.900 ng/ml
Free PSA : 18%
MRI reveals PIRADS-2 nodules in the transitional zone bilaterally as described.
My dad is 73 years old. Does he need a biopsy?

Quackery. Another Urologist says that sticking needles into the prostate are as likely to hit a cancer cell as any person sticking a needle into a watermelon and hitting a pit. Another Urologist clams the man who devised the PSA test for prostate cancer is now lecturing against PSA as a cancer indicator of the prostate. Yet another Urologist claims a number of non-related factors can and do raise the PSA levels in the blood so that an elevated PSA test of the blood is a throw of the Quackery dice as a cancer indicator of the prostate. Quack, Quack. these ducks just want the big money for cutting into a man... who screens Urologists for Quackery and prosecutes them for unnecessary and very faulty procedures at the expense of old men??? Quack, Quack.
