I had nightmares from a public access version of hooked on phonics. It was all puppets and you would randomly see a person or arm and then it would abruptly cut to the same scene with the person missing. As a child I assumed the puppets were making the humans disappear.

I appreciate that you didn't write off sister who. My mother was a close friend of his, and I grew up with them helping my mother whenever she needed it. (My dad was never around.) Helping us move alot, clean the house and so on. They are just as wholesome and a nice a person as you described.

Honestly the Price Master’s reasoning behind the show is based. I helped my parents run their garage sales as a teen, and the customers were not at all subtle about trying to take advantage of a minor to get free stuff.

Sister Who is probably one of the most wholesome public broadcast personalities i have seen. Appearances aside, he seems to genuinely care for people and really does an amazing job showing compassion, and how everyone can be of value to society despite their differences. These days it's attention whoring for views and just pure cringe that gets shown.

As someone from the middle east who grew up completely sheltered from western (american) early 2000s tv culture and is only familiar with the current internet culture I can't tell you how much I LOVE this video this is the most entertaining thing I've seen in a while I genuinely had no idea this type of shows existed and your humor makes this a hundred times better

Being old as dirt, I remember a public access show in my area that was basically a podcast about comics. Nothing very noteworthy, but one time the hosts did break into an outright fist fight over Superman, so that was fun

OH MY GOD, THE SISTERS OF PERPETUAL INDULGENCE!? MY MUM IS A MEMBER! She actually did an art exhibition recently talking about the history of the organisation! I’m involved as a junior member of the Knights Indulgar, basically PAs and bodyguards of the Sisters when they do public events, and the rest of my mum’s Drag House came to see the exhibition. It was really fun!

Mystery Science Theater 3000 was once public access. Used to be a low budget show from Minnesota just about watching the low budget films you could get for local broadcast. When Comedy Central showed an interest, being hard up for content, Joel Hodgeson discovered the commentary aspect of the show was its most marketable aspect, so doubled down on it when going national.

As a child of the 80s, I can confirm that public access TV was usually crazy boring. Every now and then, though, someone came up with something crazy amazing.
