Watching him grow from boy who cries and ask his mother what to do to king who fears nothing through eyes of Catelyn was so much better

The books just couldn't handle more wolf povs😄

As a mother myself, I like that we see Robb through Cat's eyes. It's simultaneously amazing and terrifying. It's exactly what raising a child is like. I don't know if GRRM had children of his own. But he absolutely nailed Cat's perspective and opinion of Robb

I think the kings not getting pov’s point is the most relevant. In Sherlock Holmes stories, you have the story from Watsons pov to maintain the enigma of Holmes, pretty similar idea

I love how each POV character judge the kings in the story

Sansa to Joffrey
Davos to Stannis
Theon to Balon Greyjoy
Catelyn to Robb and Renly

You also could consider that Daenarys technically judge Viserys when he was still alive. After War of Five Kings, GRRM still continue this with Cersei to Tommen (even tho most Cersei chapter more about herself but her action did impact Tommen reign) and Jon Snow to both Stannis, King of Westeros and Mance Rayder, King Beyond The Wall and Barristan Selmy to Daenerys. Plus Areo Hotah and Princess Arianne to Prince Doran Martell of Dorne, Jon Connington to Young Griff and Ned Stark to Robert Baratheon.

I read an article saying that GRRM selected POV characters who could play a sort of Ishmael role to a given ruler or who could otherwise provide a less than typical perspective on things.

Didn't George say he wanted to give rob a pov but couldn't find a good spot for it? I mean remember when he forget Bran in a group shot of the stark siblings and people think that was a way to signal his importance.

Early books have a lot of small plot holes or misconceptions to them but that's to be expected when starting an original story/Universe

Yup, Robb was only a 14 year old boy in the books. Too young to have so many responsibilities. Sadly, Jon was also 14 when he was tricked into volunteering to go to the Wall.

GRRM said that the kings couldn't have POVs because they knew too much.

I thought it was just because he was a king and the kings never get pov chapters

Yeah, think how PAINFULLY similar his chapters would feel to Jon's. They know each other more than anyone else, they struggle with very similar issues regarding carrying on Ned's legacy...oh yeah... And they both end up having statuses equivalent to that of a monarch or high lord within a book or two. Jon was the teenage male stark like Bran was the child and Ned the adult. Don't need two. Imagine if we had Theon, Robb, AND, Jon chapters in the same book.

Idk I would have loved to seen the story from the eyes of a 14 year old who become a teenage king leading the Northern armies into battle and winning

I need the first book to be rewritten solely in Robb’s POV, like Midnight Sun

Imagine if george did the red wedding as his only point of view chapter

Nobody that declares themself king has a POV chapter. The only one is Cersei but she is technically regent

I know that giving him POV chapters might have been impractical as he wasn't going to be around for very long and the revelation of his thought process might have made things less interesting.

Stannis halfway through literally looks like a colored in Wojak

From the show I don't recall Ned getting POV episodes either. They were due to die. I think Kattlynn's POV covering Robb in the war was adequate since Jon was already on the Wall by then.

It would be great to see what Robb thinked when he slept with Jeyne and the feelings he had after that.
