I personally didn’t care for the main story. I really wanted to just focus on Mark and his wife.

I thought the character "James" was incredibly stupid. Despite the many threats made against him, he still did not hire any security or install any surveillance.

You clearly missed some of the main points in the series. The last few scenes explain that there might be a gneetic affinity to more than one person owing to the genetic similarities like in the case of sibblings

I liked it. I wanted it to explore more of the "Is this really my match or are we just very attracted to each other?" You could match with someone and feel obligated to MAKE the relationship work simply because the person is your match.

I think by the end they were implying you can have more than one match. Alot of the characters were in conflicting relationships. So is there really "THE ONE?"

Your review affirmed everything I felt about this series. Another plot issue I had was that a company of this magnitude would not be this popular and developed to the level it was in 2 years as the writing suggests. I’m no tech pro but I’m sure it would take at least 5 years. Also the way legislators were complaining of divorce rates, there’s no way the platform could’ve matched that many people, had them develop meaningful relationships and then already have statistical information on the number of divorces. The least they could’ve done was elongate the timeline. And there’s no way Rebecca would’ve had any empathy to keep James alive, her character would’ve killed him long ago.

I really like Rebecca even though she isn’t that nice of a person because to me she’s the most compelling out of all the characters. The end serves as a sort of karma, she dedicated her life to the company and making sure others got to be with their true love, she had her perfect match but she still ended up all alone due to her own ambitions and her willingness to do anything in order to succeed

As for the female police, I found her SO frustrating and she made me honestly not care about the case and any investigation at all...

I enjoyed it overall. It did drag in certain places tho. And I felt like the show was deliberately ignoring the effect of culture. "The One" shouldn't just mean insane physical attraction. Your genetics may determine your personality to a certain degree, but they certainly do not determine your values.

I actually really liked the main character. The character I hated most was the policewoman Kate.

What if a young normal person is matched with a really old lunatic?

These characters just seemed batshit crazy to me. I just don’t understand the decisions of these characters. The policewoman finds that her lesbian match has outright made multiple lies (a sign of doom for any relationship) but sticks around.

Other issues: why has no scientist in their world questioned the genetic basis of “you only have 1 match” when even twins don’t both succumb to the same diseases? Ben was supposedly dead when he went underwater but there is a scene showing him gasping for air before being pushed in. When a dead person goes underwater, his lungs will be clean but if alive, lungs will fill with water. Out of all the million+ matches, not 1 divorce?

I think this show should go down asThe One having the worst police work ever done. EVER. But really enjoyed the show though.
