Mitre Gauge Upgrade - 3D printed runner!

The mitre gauge for my old Axminster saw was rubbish (like most), and the abnormal size for the mitre slots made it awkward to get a replacement.
I’d tried making my own, but ended up with a brilliant solution that I’m super happy about!

Now that’s a handy name to have ready. Nice one. Just looked at his EBay site and there’s all sorts of good gear.

I knew stu would be able to help you. He sent me a zero clearance insert plate & emergency stop paddle for my ferrex bandsaw. Brilliant add ons

I have an old Evolution Fury 5 (not the 'S' model, older than that) which has stupidly narrow t-track mitre slots. Can't afford a new table saw, and was despairing of ever be able to make a crosscut sled for mine, as I couldn't find any fittings that I could adapt to make my own runners. Making them (accurately) myself out of hardwood would've been v tricky as the 'top' of the t-track on the Fury is only 9-10mm wide.
Then I saw your video Dean, so I went to SP Creations site, but alas, no sled runners for the early model Fury. Somewhat downhearted, I pinged a message over to Stu at SP creations late on Sunday just to ask if he had any plans to make any. To my amazement he replied within half an hour (Sunday night!) and said that he had indeed made some, but not advertised them as he didn't think the demand would be there for such an old model. Deep joy. 😃 I ordered a set on Sunday night, they turned up this morning (Tuesday), perfect size and with pre-drilled countersunk holes for fitting.
So thank you Dean for pointing me in the right direction, and a huge thank you Stu for a frankly amazing service and a great little product - you made my day, and I'll be making a sled this weekend while Her Maj is enjoying her cake & champagne.
Cheers all 🎂🥂

Nice solution! Looks like a decent miter gauge. I've seen several UK channel reviews. According to the website, they sell and ship to the United States.

I have the same miter gauge, but the issue with my saw is that it's an older model and there was some kind of manufacturing problem with the miter slots. They are too shallow on the front and taper down to a regular-ish depth at the end. The result is that the miter bar on this gauge sits proud of the top, which makes the gauge impossible to use.

I bought the saw used and didn't notice that issue (to be fair, I didn't even think that issue was possible so I never thought to check), so I thought "hey I might be able to print a runner for the gauge, but would that even work?" Lo and behold, here's my answer! Your video answered my somewhat vague question to an obscenely precise degree. I mean, you even included the dimensions of the runner lol how cool is that?

Cheers!

An even easier and cost effective solution is to laser cut a piece of acrylic with the same dimensions
