Hi-Five is an American R&B quintet based in Waco, Texas. Hi-Five had a #1 hit on Billboard's Hot 100 in the early 1990s with "I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)". The band was formed in Waco, Texas in 1989, and consisted of the founding and original members from Waco, Texas: Tony Thompson (lead singer), Roderick "Pooh" Clark, Marcus Sanders, Russell Neal, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, native, Toriano Easley.

Hi-Five was originally signed to Jive Records in late 1989 and released their eponymous debut album in 1990. The album went platinum and was produced by Teddy Riley; it included such singles as "I Just Can't Handle It" (R&B #10), "I Can't Wait Another Minute" (Pop #8, R&B #1), and their biggest hit to date, "I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)", which went to number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Wow. No offense, but when people start associating with Puffy, their careers take a toll.

From hearing this, it sounds like the constant setbacks really worked on Tony's mental health over the years. Dealing with his solo album flopping, then the nothing manifesting while on Bad Boy, and then an album he had worked extensively on and completed being sued where it can't be sold. I think it just all took him to a very dark place. As Marcus says here, after nothing came out of his time on Bad Boy Records, things really started falling apart in Tony's life. I'm "The Return" not being allowed to be sold just took it to the next level. Even though they all made up and planned to do another real Hi-Five album, I'm sure the damage was done by that point.

I never knew he signed with BadBoy! Explains soo much towards the end of his life and that trajectory smh. I’m saddened until this day about the tragedy of his passing.

Puffy didn't do anything with him. Bad Boy, where artists go to die.

Giant records didn’t know what to do with Tony’s first album. I always wish he was on Warner Bros. Who was the distributor of Giant records.

I wanted to say that when Marcus said he didn't want certain member's in the group Marcus shoulda just said he didn't want treston in the group because rumor has it treston was jealous of Tony

The last album Tony did with the new hi five was actually good. Tony probably tired of carrying the group on his back.

So it wasn’t okay for Tony to replace them but it’s okay for them to replace Tony?

Okay no disrespect but it bugs me how some ppl are thriving off the legacy that Tony built. It was his voice/sound that he was never fully given credit for!

Treston sung the kissing game, on the radio,
he wanted to b the star, he wanted to outshine tony, like a new Yorker,
tony sang the kissing game, treston only fooling, the fools, he said he was there, from the beginning, on the radio, he was/is the aggressor,
the agitator, the arrogant one, cocky/conceded
