Hopeing for an opinion. I have a 95 diesel Hilux with 270k on it, it does 11kms to a L, and looking to jump up to a 2015 or around there. I don't do much towing or atleast heavy towing but do a bit of 4x4 on here and there. My question is will it be what the difference or didn't matter which one, and I do most of the work on it but haven't done a petrol Hilux so is there a good or bad thing there? Cheers any help in this would be really appreciated 👍

I have a Toyota Hilux 4x4 v6 Petrol and love it . Any repairs that it needs to have after some extreme bush bashing are always affordable compared to a Diesel . It may be a bit thirsty however it does the job I want it to.

Yeah. But you can get a 2500 gaser and they do pretty good. The half tons want to shift to much especially on highway. That's where a lot of the extra usage comes in.

Are they importing the petrol variants of the 2500/3500 in Australia ?

I think I’m going to just do the f-450 single rear tire build. I always regret getting something boring 😂

As a general, non-long haul driver, petrol is better as you don’t have DPF’s and shit to clog, and they’re cheaper to maintain, but if you’re doing lots of highway miles a diesel is far better!

I offroad, so opted for a diesel wrangler. Love it!

I have 2 trucks
02 Dodge 3/4T Cummins 5.9l 24V 4x4 Ext cab
04 Ford 3/4T Triton 6.8l V10 4x4 Ext cab
Dodge empty gets 18mpg and 12-14 towing.
Ford empty gets 12mpg and 6-8 towing the same trailer the same 130 miles.
The Dodge does it with grunt, the Ford does it screaming at 4-5k rpm.
The Ford is sure quieter and smoother though, you're not sneaking around anywhere in the Dodge and if you floor it pass hang on and pucker up, where the Ford it does it but even having 4 MORE CYLINDERS and 0.9 MORE LITERS, is a Dog comparatively.
Anyone picking gas over diesel never drove one.
My friend has a 97 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel that will walk my Dodge like it's a Tacoma though.
I thought the V10 would be more impressive, it's like having a Turbo V8 is the best way to describe it, still SMOKES any V8 though and those Twin Turbo For V6's, my Dad has one and he tried a couple times to take on the Dodge and the V10, I think he wants the V10 back, I bought it from him for $3k with 85k miles.
He's always getting a new truck, but never would go diesel, I tried. It is loud and rough, but it's a real truck.

Gonna have to agree to disagree an America we use diesel for towing heavy loads and long hauls and gas ( petrol ) for everyday use and sometimes towing but towing with a gas make it very expensive the engine has to work harder to produce more power and makes less torque while a diesel is built for intensive work and can produce more torque and can run on lower rpm’s anything bigger then a 6.0 v8 is an absolute gas guzzler! I enjoy watching you guys build cool truck but gonna have to agree to disagree..

The only gas engine that's fully forged and ment to handle things like this is the hd ram 6.4l. The others aren't fully forged. It also shares parts from the demon. I'm talking 2019 and later, not pre 2019. The 8sp is bulletproof, the co developed ford and gm Chinese 10sp is not as good.
