The Nebula Thats Melting Away - Pillars of Creation

Показать описание
Buried deep within the Eagle Nebula somewhere around 7000 light years away sits 3 towering pillars of dust and gas... known as the Pillars of Creation. These majestic structure are the location of new star formation, a stellar nursery. But they are slowly being evaporated away.... like an icecream melting in the midday sun.

Includes: Hubble images from 1995, 2014 including Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2 & 3. CGI renderings and an explanation into how the pillars of creation have formed and what gives them their unusual shape.

I'll never forget the feeling of awe when my Dad showed me that picture in the newspaper. It was a broadsheet and they spread it across an entire page so they could print it large enough to show the details. I was 11 and suddenly aware of the sheer scale of the cosmos.

I can't fathom why your channel doesn't have at least a million subscribers!!!!
You're doing a great work. The information, visuals, audio quality are not any less than those of biggest YouTube channels.
Keep up the good work. ❤️

What amazes me about the pillars is that, in a way, the heads look almost like some weird alien creatures. The one in the background (the largest one) has a gaping mouth that looks like a fish and the one in the foreground looks like some sauropod with its crested head.

The pillars have forever been one of the most striking images of space I've ever seen. Every other nebula has me amazed, but simultaneously thinking "that's not the pillars of creation"
So maybe I'm biased, but this may be the best YT space video I've seen. My emotions even got me choking for bit there by the end.
Well done! And just as yourself probably, I can't wait for JWST footage on this wonderful part of space.

The way you describe star birth reminds me of what happens when a baby elephant is born: the herd gathers near, trumpeting their excitement and joy.

Finding that these could've been history in only a thousand years was a jolt.

Beautiful :) I shot the Eagle Nebula once but got clouds during that session. Will be nice to revisit once I can again! Awesome video. W.

I’ve seen a bunch of videos which focus or touch upon the pillars. Nevertheless, there were many points in this video that weren’t often touched upon by the others. Your love for the topic really comes through.
