Thanks so much Steve. This was extremely valuable. I went the "nuclear" option with FB. The year 2019 was a tough one with the loss of my father and a 20 yr old family pet. Being such an inportant part of my life I often shared them with my friends through social media. However, seeing them pop into view based on some computer schedule often is a bit overwhelming. wow, this is a great point. This is the reason why I couldn't ever have a facebook account, it kept bringing up connection suggestions to people from my old neighborhood that reminded me of growing up there. I grew up in a bad neighborhood with bad people and thus have many many bad memories. I was lucky to survive my childhood so after about a month I deleted my account. The second reason why I deleted the account was all the reminders and stuff that kept popping up, basically bugging me to death, but mostly the bad memories, like watching a little kid get his leg broke by another older kid, or getting chased out of town by a rampaging criminal the night before he's sent to prison, or a high speed car chase through chicago I was lucky to survive, stuff like this.

One FB memory related problem I had has to do with groups.

I have some sailing groups where I have posted information and photos for a number of years. I paused (or whatever they call it) my main FB account and created a new account for sailing purposes only. Hmmm, I found that all the posts, hints, photos that I had posted in my original FB account were missing from those groups. I deleted the new sailing account and restarted the original account … the data I had in the groups was back. I now ignore the timeline (for the most part) and only ok at my groups.

Thanks for the tips. I usually just ignore the memories Facebook encourages me to share but I don’t wish to share but I can see your point.
Now how can I get Google to stop the popups trying to get me to download Google apps on my iPhone. And on YouTube, I’m not sure what triggers it but too many times I’ll be watching a YT video (in portrait) while scrolling and I end up on a Google page interrupting the video also making it difficult to return to the video because I was scrolling while watching. That’s quite annoying.

I'm really not into Facebook anymore. I'm seriously considering deleting my account. My question is when I delete my account does it delete all of my data as well or do I need to go through and individually delete all of the photos and post?
