Personal project to create characters for film and games, dubbed "Project Helena", using metahuman as a base.

Mesh to Metahuman was used, and texture transfer from the original model (scan) to work inside Metahuman without any problem.

Next steps is to create and customize hair and clothing.

I can't imagine the amount of crashes you had to go through, I'm also working on something similar but the final results are worth the crashes! Great job, you perfected it!

Really nice! Somehow it seems more real to me than the original metahuman model used in the presentation.
The texture transfer really improves on the final look. Could you please share what you used in terms of cameras to scan the head and get such good quality textures? How did you extract the normal and roughness maps from the model? Which software did you use? Thanks.

I feel like we're half way there. Unreal 5 is beautiful, but there just always something "off" about the graphics. It's like there's a very thin layer of wax paper covering the camera. Maybe we need the next generation of of ray tracing as in a successor to the concept, not more graphics power, and better textures such as skin. Skin is a translucent material which is why you can see light through your hand. Maybe for hyper realistic characters we need graphics designers to work with dermatologist to build character's bodies from the ground up to be rendered properly with designs that mimic real biology.

Ray tracing is the future but we need the next step. Right now Ray tracing is like PS3 graphics, if you forgot when the ps3 was launched it was made out to be such a big deal to have any 1080p graphics. Now we talk about 4k 120hz and beyond.

would love to see the process for texture transfer. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but I keep getting red eyes whenever I switch out the base color.

Seems to have too much blur. When I see someone moving their head or speaking I don't recall seeing that much blur

Regardless of how realistic it looks I find the eyes always give away that it's not real.
